Supreme pizza $22
Weekend spent in pet hospital $1900
Allie asleep in my lap AT HOME .......PRICELESS

Allie came home this morning. I stayed home with her all day watching her like a hawk. She slept most of the day probably because she did not sleep well in the hospital. They fed her this morning Prescription ID (yuck) and they tried to send me home with some. I politely declined. Tonight I cooked some chicken and rice for her and she proceeded to pick out the chicken (ugh). Can I feed chicken with pumpkin tomorrow? She has NEVER had table food (except for the pizza :-0) so I am a bit at a loss on what to feed her until I can get her back on her normal food, Fromm. Thank you all so much for the well wishes! Y'all truly got me through this!!!!!!!

Oh man, what a bill! But at last she is home and feeling better--see how she is with the chicken and rice tomorrow and then try the food again after that--Or did they tell you to wait a while?

You think I should try the chicken and rice again tomorrow? The reason I am reluctant is because she just ate the chicken out of her bowl and left most of the rice. They wanted me to feed her the Presciption ID, but I told them no because it has ingredients from China (thanks Karen for the heads up). They said I could also do chicken and sweet potatoes but I was wondering about the chicken with pumpkin.

You can try cutting the chicken up teeny- tiny and mix it in with the rice so that she can't pick it out, or you can try using mashed sweet potatoes instead of rice- if you mix it well, the chicken will all be blended into the ptoatoes and she won't be able to separate it. You need two parts rice or potatoes to one part chicken. I think if you tried using that much pumpkin, it would be too much fiber, and probably not enough calories.

So glad Allie is home where she belongs. Wow, what a bill!

Chicken and pumpkin would be fine. She just needs a diet that is bland and easily digestible, which chicken and pumpkin are. You can gradually add the Fromm with each meal if you want, unless they told you to wait. Then I would just continue with the chicken and pumpkin, or sepweet potatoes.

I'm so glad Allie is home and recovering. Mojo had a 2 week long bout with diarrhea soon after I brought him home at 8 weeks. (I switched his food too soon) The vet prescribed the Prescription food and I foolishly gave it to him, he got worse. I boiled him chicken and cooked rice and he ate it (inhaled it). In a week her poos were normal. You could put it all in a food processor and puree it so Allie can't pick out the rice. I also gave him 1 teaspoon of pumpkin a day and Probiotics.

I tried the really small chicken. She still tried to avoid the rice :-0

Hoping Allie is fine and dandy soon. It sounds like she was still a little puny today but that is to be expected after a weekend at the ER vet. ugh. that bill! I have no advice on the food, mine inhale chicken and rice. Just want you to know that I am thinking of you both and hoping for complete healing.

So glad to hear that Allie is home where she belongs. Unless they told you to keep her off her food, I would do the chicken and pumpkin or whatever for a couple of days slowly adding back a bit of her kibble after the first day.

Glad to hear she's home.

Thank you Karen for all of your advise. Very much appreciated.

Whew!  Glad she is back with you.  Try using a little bit of chicken stock in the water that you cook the rice.  She will likely have a better appetite tomorrow and is more likely to eat everything.
