How did you name you dog????

I am interested to hear how everyone named their dog..... I named my dog after James Cagney... Cagney is his name and we named him that because we love the old James Cagney movie... please share some stories on how you named your doodle.....

We named Zack after Zack Grienke of the Kansas City Royals. We had a hound named Amos after Amos Otis of the Kansas City Royals. Now I am giving away how old I am.

Went on the internet and printed off "dog" names narrowed it down to 2, took one look at Gus and that was his name. Wasn't expecting to get a puppy only had a week to think of a name. My mom picked a name for him and it was Spud to this day she calls him Spud with that "I told you so" look on her face! When she does this I feel as though I should have named him Spud for her (she's 85) but it's only a passing moment. He is my Gus A Roo.

I already told her there is a Spud on doodlekisses and she said "he must be the most wonderful dog!" I said "ya, mom he is" I did show her a picture of your Spud last weekend she said he's adorable! She was very happy to see there is a Spud out there. It's something about an old cartoon when she was young and the dogs name was Spud, need to research that. Thank you so much for putting a smile on my moms face!

mine is really boring coco becaus eshe was born really dark chocolate but know she should be called latte and Jazz because she jazzes around everywhere and is still the same 12months later

When you have four people trying to decide on a name, it isn't easy. There were so many female names we loved, but we were getting a little boy puppy. We finally narrowed it down to 4 or 5 and once he was home, Chewie he became. I am not a big Star Wars fan, but I guess he looks just like Chewbacca. He is called Choo Choo much more regularly though.

The funny thing is my daughter, Julie, growing up was called Jue Jue, my granddaughter's nick name is Foo Foo and now we have Choo Choo. I like to say we are an ooh ooh family. LOL. The other day I called Chewie "Chooley"...I guess that was a combination of Chewie and Julie.

We named wilson after the Tom Hanks movie Cast Away, wilson's middle name is Spaulding after the tennis ball, my DH and daughter play tennis The name Wilson fits him perfectly, We also liked the show Home Improvement too.

I too, had a list of names for my female puppy. We drove to Texas to pick her up and when we arrived none of my names seemed right for her. Then on the way home we were trying silly names from billboards and road signs. We passed a billboard advertising Elvis' home, Graceland (we live in Memphis). So she immediately became Gracie!

We tried a few names on Hannah and she didn't seem to respond to any of them, I always loved the name Hannah because a neighbor lady was named Hannah, and she was always so kind to my family. When I said the name, Hannah responded to it like "Yes, that's my name!", so Hannah it is. My friend Barb named Honey, and her name fits her perfect at times also, but she does have an AKA name "Shreky the Shredder" which fits her to a T. She is great at shredding paper, magazine's, credit cards, mostly anything you want destroyed, and things you don't. She is available from 9 to 5 most week days, and always leaves proof of a job well done. Forgot to mention she is mobile and works for food...lol.

Boomer was named by our daughter - we heard a boom fram an airplane - it just fit him.
Shayna (full name: Shayna Punim) means Pretty face in yiddish - again it fits her.
Mariner was named by the breeder - they were watching Water World when he was born - the interesting part of this is that the screenwriter for Water World has our last name.
