I take Fudge and Vern to the groomers about every 6 weeks. It takes Vern (aka Pigpen) approximately 10 minutes to un-groom himself. Does anyone else have this problem?
Here is Vern after a trip to the groomer looking all white and fluffy.
Ok, here he is about 5 minutes after we get home.
Now he is getting warmed up.
Still Rolling
And later in the week, it often looks like this
or like this
Vern could use a bath everyday. After the first of the year, I am going to price one of the dog tubs that I have seen on Doodle Kisses. Sometimes, I take him to the dog wash.
I always say that Thomas is a "self cleaning" dog...he can come in with mud up to his elbows and a couple of hours later..."voila" his legs look clean again. But of course...they are not clean...the dirt is there..just dried to a nice sandy colour which matches his hair. You should just see the dust fly off him when he starts scratching !
This is absolutely why I can't wait for operation doggie walk in shower to be complete. Only 4 more weeks!! wait I meant :(:(:(. Thankfully R&B hide the dirt when your lookin' at them but you can certainly feel it!!
Well it will be for both humans and doggies. Two months ago we had a pipe break in our master bathroom and after two months of fighting with insurance we are starting a remodel. Because I really want a big shower for many reason's including washing the dogs, the project has been code named operation doggie walk in shower. I drew the floor plan on the floor and they completed framing today and I made sure Rosey and Bandit fit, so we did pretend doggie showers!! Hee Hee!
Friends of ours have always bathed their doodle in the shower as theirs is pretty big too. I guess we could, but I just don't want him shaking all over the bathroom and bedroom. We are able to bath ours outside most of the year and when it's real cold I put them in the bathtub.
Are you going to install a hand held shower hose too? Our last house had a walkin shower which had 3 shower heads and a hand held and would've been perfect for both doodles and us all to get into. Except without a door to keep them in I know they'd be running in and out thinking it's a wet naked doodle party!!!! Oh well.
Yes!! see you get it!! why is it so hard for these darn contractors. Big shower with a hand shower head for us and a hand held sprayer to both clean the doods and the shower. My parents have an awesome walkin steam shower and when we visited last xmas I bathed Rosey in it and it was so easy cuz she could stand and turn and I could reach her and hose her down. I have never bathed them outside. Too many distractions and the water would be waaay too cold for baby Bandit.
We usually just lay down a bunch a towels, after their baths. I love watching them do after bath zoomies!!
Suzann,
We had a similar opportunity last year! This is what we came up with....and YES we 100% designed it with the dogs in mind! We didn't wait for contractors...my husband did all the work himself. It look a whole lot longer to do but we were able to make it exactly the way we wanted :). It's essentially 30 square feet of doodle fun and plenty of room for them to shake! You can't see it in this photo but we also put in a built in bench to the left so that we can sit while we scrub them down.
I think I posted a video of us using it for one of the first times. You should be able to find the link to that on "my page" if you'd like to see the shower "in action".
