How much poop does a doodle owner scoop when a doodle owner scoops for two? All the talk about what it costs for feed our dogs for a month got me to thinking - how much poop am I picking up in a month. It has seen a sharp rise in quantity since getting Stuart whose growth is in tandum with his increasingly larger poops. Soooooo tomorrow I have decided that I am going to weigh the poo bags at the end of the evening to see just what is what. It is obvious that I don't have enough to do but think about it, I'll be able to figure out how much poop that is a week, month and a year! Very useful info don't ya think? LOL
*******************************THE WEIGH IN******************************
I counted poops and weight over a two day time period to get an average. Rooney poos 2/3 times a day - Stuart 3/4 times so on average I'll be picking up 2,190 bags of poop per year. This has to be good exercise right?
The weight was .5 lbs per day (although this will go up as Stuart grows) so at the weight it will be 182.5 lbs in a year.
So that is the stinky end of my quest to find out how much poop does a doole owner scoop.

I asked my stepmother about this just this weekend. She is a chemist and an environmental expert. She says water sanitation i.e. increased flushing of the toilet or dumping refuse in the garbage disposal, uses more energy and is more damaging to the environment than bags of poop in a landfill.
I have not done my own research, and it seems hard to believe, but that is her opinion/analysis.
I have heard of some cities researching using gases and growth from untreated water for energy production, but I don't think we are there yet.
FWIW, here's my system, and I should get biodegradeable bags like I have on my leashes, but at home I use newspaper and random other bags (bread etc). I go outside once a day with a bag encasing one hand and a bag dangling from my other hand. I deposit 4-6 poops (Porter and neighbor dog prefer my yard!) in the bag, close it up with the "glove bag" reversed and around the poop bag, and hang it inside of my lidded outdoor can, using the knot to keep it from falling in. Then when I bring out a house trashbag, I transfer the poop bag to the inside of the trashbag. So, no poop in the house and no poop in the open.
Oh, I'm glad you got corroborating info. Thanks for doing the research. :-)
You are lucky that flies don't swirl around your plastic-encased poop bags. If I leave poop bags on the trash can lid, which I sometimes do, tons of flies gather on the bag. Are they some mutated super-fly species, nurtured by Fromm poop?
You and me both! These are hilarious, but oh so true!

That acronym page is hilarious and informative all at the same time! Loving the poop conversation certainly can relate to the pick up blues.. There are days when Dempsey's are as big as his head! Those are scary days indeed.
Doodle Kisses is the only place in the world that I feel normal.. really normal. I know you all want to know that Jack poops about the size of a tootsie roll and my friends can attest to the fact that they have heard me say Jack's poop is perfect. I do not pick up a lot of poop to be honest. We have a small area in my back yard that butts up against the park, that is Jack's favorite spot to poop... No one walks there. it is out of the way of the grass and since his poop is so small it is gone pretty fast.
With Molly coming on SATURDAY...... I will go and investigate the yard better.. Just to be sure.. I do scoop when we walk if it is not in a field or undeveloped area...
