Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi all,

I have an 11 month, medium size Goldendoodle. She is about 22lbs. She has always been on Blue Buffalo and we are transitioning to "Now" as she doesn't seem to be interested in the Blue. Any idea of how much she should be eating?

which formula are you feeding?

Every food is different, you have to go by the calories per cup in the particular formula you are using. Start with the feeding guidelines on the bag and adjust up or down accordingly. Without knowing which BB formula you were feeding and which Now formula you're switching to, I can't give you an exact amount. Grain-free formulas are generally more calorie dense and you feed less.

As Karen said you have to adjust the amount once she is transitioned.  It really depends upon how she processes food.  For example our 64 pound dog gets two cups of food daily (measured exactly) and our 48 pound dog gets 2 2/3 cups daily.  Our smaller dog is much more active.

As mentioned, the bag of food is a good guideline. Like Nancy, my two 60 pounders get 2 cups a day of kibble, but with toppers of real food at most meals. So I don't give the recommended amount as they get extra calories. So don't forget to add the treats caloric value too. I maintain their weights easily, but strictly doing this. So adjust as needed as you go along.
