Hurley reads doodle

I swear Hurley has been looking over my shoulder when I am on the doodle website. I say that because in the last few days I was reading about the doodle, who when in the car, barked at dogs out for a walk with their owners when driving bu. And I read about a doodle that had a fierce bark when meeting other dogs, etc.
Well, yesterday evening we were on the way to grand twins baseball practice when Hurley started barking at every dog he saw as we drove by them. That was the very first time he had done that. Then at the ball park he went crazy with his ferocious bark everytime a dog walked by. First time he had ever done that. Yes, we disciplined him. He must not have read everything as he missed parts about discipline or retraining in the doodle discussions because he wasn't to happy with our 'down stay' and 'enough' commands.

Oh boy Jane - ya got that right! Stuart is my barker and nothing I do will make him stop once he decideds the time is right. I might have to try Laurie's horn idea!

My two dogs drive me nuts with barking in the car. I have a bike horn that I blow when they bark, but our Vern, who is the biggest ChickenDoodle ever, is not afraid of that horn. Fudge hates it and will stop barking. Today, I got stopped for a school bus and a mother holding a baby meandered out to the bus stop to get her other child off the bus and walking behind her were two dogs. My dogs were going nuts in the car and I was honking a bike horn and wishing the mother would hurry up. LOL

Dogs are so funny. My two almost never bark in the car. Sometimes Luca whines because he knows we are picking up a favorite person so I try never to tell him beforehand. He also will whine on occasion to get out and walk, or if they see another dog walking but he's gotten better at enjoying the ride for itself.

Tell Hurley that Gracie Doodle does NOT bark in the car!  The only sounds she makes are little whines when we pull up to the park or beach.  Shuuuuuuuuuuush...don't tell Hurley that the only time she has barked is when I have been at a signal and a pan handler approaches my window.  That doesn't count though.  She is doing her job and protecting me and her car.  Gracie is a very good traveler in the car and you don't even know she is there except when she decides to rise up and stand on the console so she can look out the front windshield or pop her head out the sunroof for a breath of fresh air!

My Bailey is the barking "dog park greeter"!  All the dogs can be playing and Bailey will spy a car driving up and she runs to the entrance and barks nonstop until the folks and their dogs enter the gate.  Once in the gate she invites the dog to play and join the fun. It is such a sweet gesture that nobody minds her barking.  If a dog is new and shy about joining the gang I will take Bailey to the small gated area with the new folks and their dog and Bailey plays with the newcomer until the "newbie" feels comfortable enough to join "the group".  I think she was a Walmart Greeter in another life!
