I Can Get DK Members a small discount on Pet Insurance...but a question...

I just spoke with VPI Insurance and I can get a small discount for DK Members if we partner up with them.  But it got me thinking...why not check what a couple OTHER pet insurances might offer.  I'm not as familiar with which is most desireable/popular among the various insurance companies.  Besides VPI...what other TWO would you say would be best to check on?  If we can get a better deal for everyone that would be ideal.  If not then I'm happy to go with VPI and all DK members will then get a little bit of a break when buying their insurance.

Speak out!  Vote for which other two I should persue info on!

I am ready and waiting to be involved in whatever plan is chosen times three dogs.
I'm sure JD is uninsurable, but if i were getting a new dog, I'd look into PetPlan. I've heard great things about them.
Karen they would insure Jack but they would exclude anything that is a know pre existing condtion. You have to send all of your records that you have on the dog.. If something else was to arise in Jack not related to his present illnesses, it could be covered.

I can't even begin to imagine what the premiums would be at this point. He's 6.5 years old, and in addition to the Atopic Dermatitis, has a documented history of bad teeth and bad feet, and he's had a growth removed and two others aspirated. Plus, the treatment for the Atopy is so expensive, everything else is a drop in the bucket. If a vet bill is under $400, I don't even blink, it's like a bargain. We are just spending down my retirement savings together.

Aside from an orthopedic problem, what would even be covered at this point that would make paying the premiums worthwhile?

But that a big aside. I do think the premiums would be big and there would be a lot of exclusions. I had to take the dogs to the vet to get there knees checked, just a physical exam, to avoid having knees excluded for a period of time.
I have PetPlan.  Perhaps when premiums are due again, they might have a little better price.  I looked at a lot of plans and thought they looked really competitive, with good coverage.  I liked the flexibiltiy of their various plans.  Thanks for looking into this for us!
We have PetPlan.
Great...I have just contacted PetPlan.  Now to add another 1 (or heck even 2) to the list of possibilities and hopefully we'll have some good options to choose from!
I use Embrace because they have amazing cost/benefit ratio for their wellness plan, that acts as a "rebate" on the illness/injury plan. For puppies it was clearly the best option. That would be my vote. ;-]

PetPlan is what we currently have and there is another company that my vet raves about... PetsBest. Here's the link: http://www.petsbest.com/landing/pet-insurance.aspx?gclid=CIDKsor0pK...

VPI may have changed because it has been many years since I've had it but from what I remember..they paid what was "reasonable and customary" mid-West prices for EVERYONE. We live in CA, need I say more:( They only paid 1/3 of my golden's surgery.

I just got paid for Izzy's Elbow surgeries from PetPlan and they paid the FULL amount less my deductible and my 20%. I was pretty impressed

I have Pet Plan....so far no complaints.
Another issue to research is exclusions.  My Springer tore a CCL which the surgeon said was most likely injury rather than a genetic predisposition.  Some companies would exclude him or at least this type of problem.
