Cocoa has what is called an "open face", which means she did not get the gene for "furnishings", the typical doodle and poodle beard, mustache, eyebrows, etc. There are three different genes that control coat length, curl, and furnishings, and it looks like Cocoa got the first two but not the one for furnishings. That's not going to change. Most dogs with open faces do shed. Of course, many doodles who have furnishings and look more "doodle-y" shed, too. In fact, 70% of all F1s do shed to some degree, furnishings or not. My guy is about as shaggy and doodle-y looking as they come, and he sheds like a purebred Retriever.

Cocoa is adorable, even if she doesn't look exactly like what you expected.....enjoy her!
She looks like a black F1 goldendoodle to me. I had an f1b phantom goldendoodle and he looked like this but with white on his chest, eyebrows, and feet. Take a look at the photos on my page to see what he looked like as an adult.
Super cute, and you won't have to worry about musty beard ;)
She is darling. I adore her rich color.
