"I Feel Awful".... Just Turned Into "I Feel So Relieved!!!"

UPDATE on the little girl in my class!

I spoke with Genesis' mom today and she will be back in school on Monday. (She actually told her mom she should come back today because we always have a spelling test on Fridays! LOL).  She still has a bandage between her eyes and that is the worst part.  She will need more plastic surgery in about a year.  But the rest is coming along nicely and only band aids cover the stitches.  The swelling and bruising have gone away.  She is excited to come back and (as she looks in the mirror at her cuts when changing bandages), she says she is very happy her 'cuts are getting smaller'.  The rest of the class was great when I told them what happened and can't wait for their friend to come back to school!  Kids are just wondrous... they have a compassion much deeper than some adults.  One little boy told me, I think she'll be perfect just the way she is!  It's the inside that counts!  I wanted to cry.  THANK YOU ALL for your prayers and good thoughts, but most of all for YOUR support!  You all are pretty wondrous too!

That is wonderful news! I am so happy that the little girl is doing better. You are a compassionate teacher and seems like you've taught your class well!

Thank you so much... I try.. those are the things textbooks don't teach

:o)

I'm so happy that things are better for this poor little girl....she's so lucky to have YOU for a teacher!
Thanks sooo much!
What good news.  And your class is full of "keepers" to be so compassionate.
MOST of them - yes!  LOL
What awesome news.  She is one resilient little girl and how lucky is she to have you as a teacher!  How is she doing as far as dealing with dogs again?  Does she have a dog at home?  I just started thinking that if I were attacked like that as a child, it might cause me to become quite fearful of dogs.
Her mom did not say anything about her feelings about dogs.  (She did mention that the dog has NOT put down)....However, when I took out her reading bag (books she chose to read from our classroom library) to send home if she wasn't coming back - I noticed she had 2 chapter books (which by the way is about 2 grades above her grade level) from the Puppy Palace series... I put them aside.... not sure how she would feel about that... but she is one tough cookie despite her petite size.  she is wise beyond her 7 years!  I will see when she comes back Monday!
That is wonderful news!!

Thank God!  And what wonderful students you have to feel such acceptance to their friend no matter what!  Beautiful.

That is so fantastic. Kids are the greatest.
Shelly!  I missed this whole story!! OMD!  Thankfully everything seems to be turning out okay... what a horrific experience but she sounds like a real trooper!
