We attended a huge carshow today, down on the waterfront in San Diego. We, of course, brought Enzo. As we walked around, I noticed one particular couple, seemed to be near us all the time! At one point, there were 8 different people all around Enzo, asking about her, and this couple joined in, asking questions. All the same typical questions,: what kind, name, shedding questions and age. When I gave Enz's age ( 1 yr), the man, who I swear was stalking us, said...oh, so she IS young. How much do you want for her. I sort of fluffed him off and continued talking to others. As others left...this couple were the last ...as he repeated his question : How much will you take for her"? I said something like: " I rather sell my first born child" and she was not for sale. He kept pressing! I'll give you what ever you paid, plus $100! I declined. He says...name your price ! He was really aggravating me at this point! I tell him, "SHE IS NOT FOR SALE". He says:" Everything has a price." I say "NOT my dog "and walk away. He started to come after me and his wife, who obviously had more common sense, stopped him. Really? Sure...I'll just hand her over to some fool with a checkbook!

It was scarey and strange! By the time I was walking away from him...I felt very uncomfortable.

OMG--that is nuts!! How scary that must have been! Some people think that they can throw their money around and get whatever they want--and they usually do! But NOT our doodles!!

It wasn't me, honest!  LOL, this comment will make total sense when you read the blog I wrote that is waiting to be approved.

I've had offers to buy Quincy before but none to be taken seriously and certainly not as persistent. Of course Enzo is so adorable I could see why he would want her. I think this may be a case of someone who has enough money that he's never had to take no for an answer before.

LOL...NOW I have to patiently wait on your blog post!

Nobody has ever offered to buy JD for any price, lol, but after hearing this story, I'm glad. This would have really creeped me out.

Whoa, that is insane!!!  I thought I'd heard everything.

Scary. I would worry about her being stolen. My big guy, Hartley, loves everyone he meets and would happily get into a car with a stranger which makes me nervous that he could easily be stolen.
I think I would have driven home with one eye on the rear view mirror after that encounter. How can a person even think you'd want to give up your beloved pet for money?? It boggles my mind!

Wow, that is ridiculous.

We've been asked before about the boys, but never in a pursuant manner you described. How scary! I don't think anyone would make it very far with Bentley or Maserati as they are momma's boys and would cry if someone was taking them away from me.

When I was a young teenager, I was walking my Bonny and this guy pulled up next to me and asked me, "Is that your dog?" I was like, "Yeah..." He said that she looked just like a dog that was missing in his neighborhood. I was equally freaked out that he would steal my dog.

Luckily, Orwell is cautious of people and would never get into a car without me being present. If someone picked him up and shoved him in, he'd be whining the whole time and they would dump him somewhere. Besides, he'll be too big full grown to pick up.

Wow. . .. they don't understand that our doodles are our babies!

Some people are totally "clueless"....how ignorant and rude this guy was....poor wife.
