I just might lose my lunch over this...I'm so upset I could cry.....or skin two dogs...haven't decided yet.(crate update)

Yes, they are still puppies. Yes, we walk them every single day and play and play and play and play. Yes we thought we had totally puppy proofed our dining room but somehow, our beaver doodles CHEWED their way into a cabinet and drug out, tore-up and chewed beyond recognition some of my linen napkins, a Longeburger basket and liner, and antique cookbook of my great grandmothers (with her writing in it) and of all things, a bottle of Elmer's glue...all in a 3 hour period.

When I opened the front door today, Penny was standing on the gate with one of the Longeberger liners in her mouth, all proud of herself and making happy, happy, wookie noises. Ginger knew right away that they were in BIG trouble and immediately ran for cover as if I was going to beat her or something. There they both stood, covered in glue and pieces of antique cookbook stuck all over them...I would have laughed if I hadn't been about to throw up. I don't know what to do. We've tried everything except selling them….CHEAP! Oh! And one more YES….They had plenty of toys to chew on. I guess it’s time to kennel them during the day. So sad though, we got two so that they would have each other and stay out of trouble. Instead, they are partners in crime on a mission to destroy my house one bite at a time.

So I think a few of you might have missed the pics I posted so I'll puth them here...and...THANK YOU ALL!  I'm so encouraged by your posts. :)

Oh dear!  I'm so sorry about your heirlooms!!  Fortunately, we haven't had much doodle damage but our shepherd mix was terrible.  In many dog breed books they classify some breeds (such as border collies) as "destructive if bored".  We used to call our Dixie, "Dibs" (destructive if bored).  She even pulled up a corner of linoleum and chewed it.

I think the reason that puppies are SO cute is that they are SO much trouble :-)  It's hard to stay angry at those faces....

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear that you've had this experience with your Doodle puppies. I'm also surprised that so many others have had the same kind of experiences. That's hard to come home to. In defense of Doodles, I have to say that our Doodle, Higby, has never destroyed a single thing in the three year that we've had him.  We got him as a puppy from the breeder and we've raised him to this day. I've always thought that raising puppies means you have expect behaviors that we'd be unhappy with, but that's never happened. I've often thought that it's as if Higby can read our minds.  He does just what we ask of him and he's never chewed a single shoe, book, or clothing.  We leave him in our car when we go into the a store or restaurant and he's perfectly contented to watch people passing or just nap while we're away. When he was a puppy, we crated him while we were gone and he was about nine months old before we left him free to roam in the house during our absence. So not "all" Doodles have a destructive side. Believe me, I've counted our blessings that Higby's been such an easy puppy to raise and train. I'm wondering if there aren't other Doodle owners out thre who've had our exerience with raising an almost intuitive Doodle.

Webber has never chewed anything  except some tissue when he was a couple of months old.  I did not crate him when I left the house even as a puppy; just closed him in my bedroom.  Seda has chewed a couple of things...house plant, leather cell phone holder, bath sponge thing, so she was crated when I left her until she was a year.  They are both loose now, and no damage.  I have been fortunate.
Nice to hear!!!
I've been lucky too.  I didn't have a crate when I first brought Traveler home as I hadn't expected to get him on Christmas eve.  By the time the stores opened, I didn't think I needed one, though I got and loved the x-pen or puppy pen!  He went through a teenage time when he grabbed stuff and ran with it--but that was only when somebody was around to chase him.  He outgrew that fairly quickly and has never chewed or destroyed.  WTD???  He has the run of the house when I go out.  He might be tempted to counter surf if I wasn't around and had left something delicious at the edge, but that hasn't happened yet.  He was basically potty trained at 8 weeks, with only one poop inside, on his first night home.  He does jump up on guests, though is getting better about keeping 'four on the floor.'  God loves me.  :)
WTD! They are so naughty! You should either crate them when your out or put them in a part of the house that they can do the least damage and then confine them there.
They are Taylor...That's what is so amazing. They are confined to the dining room and they some how got onto my sideboard and drug this stuff out.  I guess I need child locks on anything in the dining room.  We would enver give them free run of the house....NEVER...We thought we were being smart.  Uggggg, you live and learn I guess.
They were just looking for the recipe on the page with the little boy and his dog! And they found it!
No, really we keep our boy, Angus in his crate when we are not with him...or take him with us. He is just a year old and not yet trustworthy. He likes his crate., but he also is a good traveling companion. He also goes to the office with Robert if I'm not home. He is a good boy, but i've had lots of dogs, and they are still puppies at a year old. And just like men, some don't mature for quite a while! Stick with the crate.
This response scares me a little :) Do you mean to tell me my Vern is going to take as long as my husband did to mature??? LOL
Oh no! I've been there and it's no fun, but still funny at the same time! We started putting Socrates in our downstairs bathroom/laundry room because I wasn't able to come home over lunch to let him out and we wanted him to have a little more room than a crate...all was fine until the day he decided to EAT the FLOOR! We have to replace the baseboards and linoleum in that room because he somehow managed to eat down into it and tore up a huge section. Beaver doodles is right :)
OMG!  My Doodle is 10 months old and will get into things if we're not a step ahead of her.  BUT, when we leave the house, no matter how long or short of a time, she is crated.  I tell her "crate" or "condo" and in she goes.  I honestly don't think we will ever not crate her when we're gone.  It's good insurance that we never have to come home to a mess.  Crating is totally necessary.
OH MY!!!  I'm sorry you lost some precious items.  I would do the crate, make it a happy thing for them.  It will work out.
