Tess is almost 5 months and we took her in for her second trip to the doggie salon today. Needed to get her toe nails, ears and glands done again. This time I thought I would take them up on the offer to trim around her eyes, so she could see better and we could see her. My DH didn't want them to touch her hair yet, but I thought if I really explained exactly what I wanted, I would get it. I only wanted the area BETWEEN her eyes done. I have been trimming that area so it doesn't poke her eyes and it was ok, but I thought while she was getting the other done they could clean it up, and do a nicer job of it. So why did they shave her all the way from the tip of her nose to the eyes?!?! I even showed them on my face, just this small area between the eyes.....by then Tess was no longer sitting still and I never got the spot done that I had asked for! This makes me really scared for when we get her done all over. I know I'm to take a picture in, but if they speak a whole different language .....So dissapointed! I know that it will grow back, but how could she do this when I never even asked for her to shave her?

How awful!  So many groomers have no idea what to do with a doodle!  I can't imagine exactly what they did (do you mean they shaved her face like a poodle?) but I'm sure it will drive you crazy waiting for it to grow back!  By the way, Tess looks so much like Cocoa!  I love the light brown swirl around her nose- it looks just like Cocoa has :)
Thanks, they shaved a inch and a half path from the tip of her nose up to her eyes. So heartbroken, my husband just walked out of the shop and got in the car, he was so mad it was probable better that he left. Cocoa is so cute! They do look a lot a like. Tess is going to be maybe forty pounds, how much does Cocoa weight? She looks so big sitting in the back seat with your son, love it!!!!
Cocoa is actually just a big fluff-ball!  Under that hair she isn't that big- tall and skinny.  She only weighs about 36 - 37 lbs.  Our breeder predicted 40 lbs. so she was pretty on-target with her estimate.  Cocoa is now 2 years old, so I predict she will still fill out a bit and end up at around 40 lbs. by her 3rd birthday.

From the pictures she does look really tall, so I thought she might weigh more too! So, so cute! I'm hoping Tess gets to be on the tall side for a medium as well. Just weighed her today and she is 24 lbs and will be 5 months on Oct. 2nd..... but still has a ways to go.:)

This is why I groom Cooper myself. Ive heard of so many bad grooming. To be fair, its easier for me as Cooper only gets 1 big cut a year and i let her grow long fur for the winter with just the occasional trim and monthly face triming.

go to the grooming group, there are guidelines and photos you can print out to take to a groomers to show them what you want.

Cooper is adorable! It looks like your doing a great job with the grooming! I joined the grooming group and thought at first I might go for it, but just couldn't pull the ear hair or trim the toe nails. Was so afraid of hurting her. I also thought, what if I buy the table and all the grooming tools and I just make a mess of it!
Like this?  This was Ned's first cut.  I still have the same groomer, but his was her first time doing a doodle. At least his muzzle still had hair though.
No, Tess got a shaved stripe all the way to the nose and she never really got between the eyes like in your pictures. I like the shop, it's really small and they don't cage a bunch of dogs and keep them all day. This is what  I was looking for, but went in both times on the weekend and got a young girl. I think I'll a make the next appointment with the owner (and take pictures in with me) :)
Ned, what beautiful eyes you have!!!
Ned says, "Thanks!  My two-legged brothers and sister say I have snake eyes - hurts my feelings!"
Clearly a case of sibling rivalry! Whatever do they mean. Sometimes Luca can look a bit like cat eyes or Asian eyes though : )
We've all been there!  I've changed groomers several times, and now I have one who understands exactly what I want...priceless!  Maybe you could ask for recommendations from other Doodle owners in your area?
