Please make sure that your CEL PHONE NUMBERs are on your dogs tags.

We almost lost Shayna tonight.  Fortunately, my cel phone rang, someone had found her.

To make a long story short we took their electric fence collars off to change the batteries, Boomer and Shayna went out and were no where to be found when called.  Boomer finally came home but Shayna was lost.  About 45 minutes later i got the call on my cel.

Please no discussions on electric fences - the important thing is for them to ALWAYS have their electric fence collars on and to have cel phone numbers on tags.

So glad you got your Shayna back. How scary! Good reminder, too!!
Glad Shayna is home safe and sound, my DH's cell phone # in on Quincy's tags, his phone is never turned off, mine is rarely turned on.
No fence discussion here. I have a regular fence and escapes happen. I glad all the doodles are safe and those tag reminders are good for all of us.

Wow, how scary.  So glad Shayna made it back home safely.

I'm so glad Shayna is home safe. Thanks for the reminder!

So glad your Shayna is safe at home!  Thanks for a good reminder.  I have mine and my son's on Cooper's tags.  It is so scary when they get lose and you don't know where they are.

Glad she is home and thanks for the advice.
Very true!! Cell numbers are much better than home numbers too. I lost my dachshund, Reba, one day and while I was out looking for her someone found her and called the number on her tag- my home number. I was not home, so I didn't get the voice message until I came back inside (bawling) and checked the phone.

So glad Shayna is home. Izzy got out one morning about a month ago. I DO have my cell phone on their tags BUT...when we went looking for her I forgot to bring my phone with me!!! I ran home to get the car and realized I didn't have my phone. There was a message already on it. She made it 3 blocks away. She took the route we walk in the evenings!!!!

Cell phone #'s are important!!!!

I have both mine and my DH's cell numbers and our home number and our vet's number and Avid's number.....  Am I a bit paranoid? Yes, but it makes me feel much better. I also have their license number on the tag.  Thank you for the reminder because I am going to go check the tags for wear and tear.
what a relief!  Another good idea...you can get collars from Hot Dogs Collars that have the phone number embroidered on them in LARGE print. They are awesome!!! So easy to read! I always find stray dogs and 90% of the time I cannot read the number on the collar because its too small or worn down. And sometimes you need to read it quickly!  It's so frustrating! So everyone also make sure you can actually read the info on the tags too :)
Thanks goodness you got Shayna back.   What an awful 45 minutes that must have been.  I once got a call when I was on holiday in Vancouver from a man who asked me if I had a little white dog as he was walking down the middle of Maynooth high street (our town)  Luckily he didn't realise he was calling long distance.  I think it's important to put two numbers on the tag. What if I hadn't answered? Sometimes people won't wait and they may just not look after the dog if nobody answers.  I have the boomerang tags and you can have two or more which lie flat on the collar so no dangling things to get caught.   They look good too.
