Riley gets overly excited at meeting any living creature so we were concerned she would squash our friend's 6 week old lab. After much insistence from our friend, we let Riley loose. We were amazed at how she instinctively knew how to play nice with her. We had such a fun night watching them. Thought I'd share a picture.

Not sure this will work but I'll try to upload a little video.
Too big. Trying one more time.

Oh my... that's so cute. I was worried about Orwell and little kids and little dogs too, but he is so sweet and gentle once I let him say hi. I also feel he gets overly excited. (:

So sweet!  Ellie was the same - that is the perfect description, "overly excited at meeting any living creature" lol!  I was also concerned because her first few playmates were small dogs - when she was a big puppy - but she always laid down on the ground to be closer to them.  I called it "making herself small."  She was super gentle with Beasley when she was a puppy, too.

That's adorable! Our doodles are always full of surprises for us!

BTW I'm hoping that was a typo about your friend's puppy being 6 weeks old as that is WAY to young to be separated from her mommy. Plus it's against the law to sell puppies under 8 weeks old in most states. :(

Thanks everyone for letting me share the pic. Wish I could show the video.

It concerned me too about getting her so young. This was the last one in the litter so the others left even sooner. Eek! Sounds like this was a pup from a farm dog maybe. They had to drive to the middle of nowhere to find the place. My friend is pleased and not concerned so I let it go. They just lost their lab doodle and their snouser mutt is having separation anxiety. He is also scared of the puppy's bite so it was good that Riley could help teach her to play correctly. A few times I think the pup latched on to Riley's lip and Riley just stopped, growled quietly and the pup backed off. Then they went back to playing. Our friend wanted Riley to bite back to teach the puppy her place but I'm glad she didn't. I don't want Riley to become a biter but I doubt she would as it isn't her personality to do that.

This is SO cute....thanks so much for sharing it.

Wonderful photo! And it is good for the pup to have a role model since the momma dog is no longer around.

Here is you pic:   It is precious!

I love this! Your doggy looks so happy to have a new furry friend!
That is a great picture!
