My DH bought me an iPad yesterday...I am pretty excited as I have never had one but I haven't even taken it out of the box yet.  Although I am starting to wonder if he is trying to send me over the edge as I am the most un-tech savvy person in the world and his gift of an iMac and PS CS5 is just about to send me to the looney bin...LOL.  Just wondering what some of the favorite apps are, what you love about your iPad if you have one, and any cool accessories I should get.  He did buy me the smart case for it but I don't like it and am going to return it and get a more stylish leather one.  He also got me a camera connection kit with a card reader which I think is very cool.

After my playdate at the pool with my favorite 3 year old today I am going to open the box and get started!    Hmmm...come to think of it...my favorite 3 year old is a computer genius..maybe I will ask her what she loves about her iPad..LOL.   Thanks for any cool advice on apps and "stuff".

I love my iPad. It's the original version, but hopefully i'll be able to get a newer one "one of these days"! Some of my favorite apps are Poynt (for searching for a restaurant, business, movies, people, etc. It will bring up address, directions, phone, map, etc), Gas Buddy, for finding the cheapest gas prices near you, Temple Run (a pretty mindless game, but addicting), Weather Genie (really cool photos , and you can make the water ripple if you move your finger over the photo. Also, for all you Doodle Cruisers, you can enter Little San Salvador, Bahamas for the location in there, and it will give you the weather on Half Moon Cay!), Scalar Calculator which shows your figures like you have entered them on a legal pad. You can save the "paper" or send them to a document, etc. Pretty cool!

I also found "AppsGoneFree" which finds apps that, for a limited time, are offered free of charge. When you click on the app, each day, it will list 5 or 6 apps that you can get for free for a day or 2. I have gotten a bunch of photo apps from there that are pretty cool - mostly filters that you can add to your pix for neat effects. There's one that you can make any of your photos look like you took it in the rain in a bad storm, there's one that is a Kaleidoscope where you can make and save your own creations. (I know, it doesn't take much to entertain me!)

One that may help you learn all about your iPad is the iPad Forum (iPF) There's discussions and forums and groups on there that will answer just about any question you could come up with.

So, explore and have fun!!

Judy bought an IPAD last weekend and she loves it!

I am seriously thinking about purchasing an Android based tablet because of the capablity to control my Canon cameras using an Android app.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_3N3...eature=relatedIi don't know if this can be done with an IPAD but, I don't think that the IPAD has a USB commection...

I have an Android tablet and it allows much more flexibility re: apps and programming than iPad does not.. Also has Flash which iPad does not. That said I do none of it. Also, in general Apple has many more apps but Android is making progress.

i just got a new IPad a couple of weeks ago.  Still getting used to it.  I did find a nice leather case at Brookstone that was fairly inexpensive in comparison to others that I saw.  I downloaded  A Dog's Purpose, bur was dissapointed that I couldn't loan the "book" to anyone.  (downside of downloading books).  I'm thinking about subscribing to a couple of magazines to eliminate clutter.  Also, our local paper is going to start a digital paper that would read the same as the real paper.  I'm thinking of going to that on M-F when I'm just skimming, and a physical paper on the weekends.  Good Luck with yours.  Words with Friends is great.

I havent downloaded a book yet but will do that soon! Have been playing Words with friends with Joanne since yesterday. She is kicking my butt. I bought a very cool photography app. The photographers ephemeris. It was pricey as apps go but I think it will be worth it. You can put in any location and it tells you what direction the sun will be, best time of day to shoot in that location, etc. So far loving the iPad.

iPad, I wish! :>)
