Is Dairy bad for dogs...

Every evening, my hubby and my two doodles share an ice cream cone. Well, he eats his and then they get theirs..... They love this treat more than anything and, in fact, if we forget, they both come around the time we give it and sit by us and give us "the look". My question is, is dairy in anyway bad for dogs as I know chocolate is very bad for them.

We've always let our dogs lick the ice cream out of the empty carton - sometimes we leave just a little extra in the bottom. One of our dogs didn't like ice cream - ?  Of course, Webster doesn't like popcorn and Charlotte loves it.  I think it's so funny how dogs have taste likes and dislikes, just like people.

My husband eats a bowl of ice cream a few nights a week and as soon as he sets his bowl on the coffee table Hunter come's running.  She knows she gets to lick the bottom of the bowl.  Fortunately its never seemed to bother her stomach but then again if I were to pour it in a tablespoon thats about all it is.

We found (we think a pretty healthy) ice cream for dogs called Yoglund.  It comes in peanut butter, blueberry and papaya flavors.  It's a bit pricey so we only buy it for special occassions.  Doodle Grandma buys our Doodles Frosty Paws but it's not as healthy as Yoglund.

The Yoglund is not easy to find so we do, very rarely give Rooney a Frosty Paw.  Dog junk food for sure but as a once in a while thing, I'm not too concerned.

They actually close their eyes with the pleasure of slowly licking away...It is such a joy to observe.

Heeheee.  I look pretty happy eating ice cream too.  If anyone wants to supply me with Rocky Road or Jamoca Almond Fudge for a month I'll gladly take some photos of my happy smile while I eat the ice cream.

So glad you enjoyed the pics. It really is a touching moment in our house when the ice-cream cones come out. Sorry the weather has ruined out doodle romp Saturday. I was looking forward to getting there for an hour to visit with all my buddies...
