The last couple of days Toby is acting like he's lost his brain. He is being loud - which he NEVER is. Barking because he wants attention, barking just because...you get the picture. He is jumping up much worse than in the past. He is "fidgety" and wants to be on the move, always. What is up with this? Is it doggy teenage years? I am NOT a fan, whatever it is. Any ideas? We are definitely going to the dog park today to burn some steam. He is 10 months old.
Ah, the teenage years! Yes - they start "forgetting" their manners and pushing the envelope. Been there - done that! When Wilson did the teen thing, I did more training sessions each day for a while just to "remind" him of his manners. I also found that giving him more exercise helped a lot.
Stay consistent, go back to basics, adapt the "nothing in life is free" motto...you will once again have your sweet baby back!
As I read this, I shake my head...lol. Marlow is 3 years old and acts like a teenager! Maybe he didn't get a chance to act that way in the past and is making up for lost time? Toby is beautiful, by the way!
For about 2 weeks when was about Molly 10 months old, she acted like she had never been to an obedience class. Today is her first birthday and she is well behaved. Abby took longer to grow out of her teen time but was not as difficult..
Well... I wish that Thalie will do like your Molly! She become mouthy, she bark for everything, anything and want to control all the household! Still she is adorable... that is our major problem with her!
Yes indeed.... the dog teenage years. At least we cannot understand them when they tell us we know nothing, nothing at all. My huskies never settled until at least three. Roo, my older ALD was pretty well over the worst by 18 months. Tigger, at one year is right in the middle of the worst. Step up the training, if possible and exercise will at least buy you a couple of quiet hours. Know that their are a lot of us out "enjoying" this time also.
