We always noticed that Holly will walk under our legs but, our rescue doodles, Sophie, Skye and even the puppy, Zoe, have a thing about walking between our legs and often just stopping there. It seems like this is a way of showing or getting affection...

Our Maltese do not do this with any regularity...

Doodles also walk between other Doodles legs when they can.  Skye walks under Holly's legs while Zoe walks under the legs of all three of the big Doodles...

Peri walks under DH's legs all the time, especially when "she wants pets" (according to DH).  She doesn't walk under mine as much, but I think it is because I am super short...
Funny you should post this now...Daisy just did this to the store owner next door - he got a real kick out of it too!
Hahaha that's funny that doodles walk between the bigger one's legs....Charlie does walk between/under my legs, as she is giving me a body rub. Like Allysin said, I think it is her way of giving me a physical "Hug" type of contact.
Our Lucy does this all the time.  Sophie occasionally, but Lucy for Sure.  DH calls it "Noodleing".    She will go in circles, coming out the back and going right back around to go through again!  Sometimes she and Sophie do it together, one following the other in a big circle!
Shadow is constantly doing this.  My wife and I are getting used to this but it sure surprises visitors when Shadow walks between their legs from behind and stops and looks up.  Quite funny actually!!

Someone at work said that goldens and poodles at some point were used as herders....I don't know if this was accurate at al......but she said that could be why our doodles are so constantly under our feet....They are herding us!

lol my doodles do this ALL the time.  My husband says they're not herding us, but I think it's kind of funny if they are =P

To my knowledge, neither breed was bred to herd. They are working/hunting/water dogs, but not herding.

I think it is simply a sign of affection - seems doodles are more affectionate than other breeds of dogs :)

Hi.  Great work with all the rescues you do.  My mini labradoodle does this constantly.  At the beach, she will walk under/thru the legs of people she's never met before!

Kona's safe place is standing between my legs.  If she in uncomfortable at the park with too many dogs or a pesky dog, she darts right through my legs wanting me to protect her, it is her safe harbor.  I notice a lot of our doodles in the Vegas group love to wiggle between people's legs.

Buddy who is not a labradoodle does not.  Thank goodness  :)

Love this post! We are always getting comments from others when Nutmeg scurries between our legs... and then tries to go through their legs, to their surprise. The other day I was wearing a longish skirt (rare occasion), a friend came to the front door, and there came Nutmeg to hide under my skirt, with just her face peering out at our guest... was very funny!
LOL Vicki,  I was thinking especially of Nutmeg and Sandy's Mickey :)
Myla will also just cross under Chloe if she's standing. Mine are more like "in the way" they walk backwards as you walk towards them trying to get to the next room/ Frustrating!! They always think they are missing out on something.
