I heard so much about Doodles being high energy that I was reluctant to get one. I have been so pleasantly surprised that Giada is such a "GO WITH THE FLOW" kind of girl. If you want to romp in the woods she is right there, but if you want to veg. on the couch, well shes happy to be there too. This winter was so cold that our daily walks were down to weekly walks, but she didn't seem to mind one bit to just run in the back yard.

How about your doodle..........High energy or not??

Willson is also a low energy doodle he is very happy to go on walks and play with puppies in the neighborhood, but when he is done he just plops down and takes his nap I am perfectly okay with this because I love snuggling with him,
He also was the runt of his liter I don't know if that makes much of a difference . He loves car rides and playing ball and eating :-)
Luca was the biggest in his litter. I had been warned about "high energy" doodles but he is pretty low key most of the time.
Thomas is high energy! very very high energy. Lovely dog though-very good natured. He is still only 6 months old-so we are hoping for some mellowness to appear. He is SO nosy-even if he is having a nice nap, if anyone moves in the house, even to go to the bathroom-he has to get up to investigate. When he crashes though from sheer exhaustion-he is a very good boy. This is when we like him best. LOL To all of you who have a nice calm dog-were they always this way?? Or did they calm down as they matured? I pray for calmness.
Well, Giada has calmed down, but she was never overly energetic. She too is very nosy and eill wake up from a solid sleep to check out the littlest noise.
Fenway is super nosy and so is my brother's doodle. My Mom actually calls them Nosy Rosies! They just want to make sure they know what's going on at all times. I was actually driving home with Fenway from my parents the other night and she was exhausted because she'd been playing with my brother's labradoodle all night. We got in the car and she immediately layed down and went to sleep, but every time I stopped at a stop sign, hit a bump in the road, changed my ligts from bright to dim, etc. Fenway would sit up and look out of the window to check it out. She is so nosy!
Oh my! Parris is SO nosy. My husband calls her my little helper. She has to be involved in EVERYTHING. Parris has high energy and is extremely driven when appropriate. She will chill out when she has had plenty of exercise and ATTENTION.
You are so right. Our dood could be crashed in the car, but if I turn on the directional signal-he wakes up and gets up on the console beside me to check out why we are turning. Sometimes-I don't turn the turn signal on to avoid this!! My late mom would have called him a "nosy parker". I have no idea what that means or where it came from-she had a lot of really strange expressions-the dear that she was.
I really think that somehow, Toby and Thomas are related! :) Toby is the same, nosy....heaven forbid I sneeze - he's right on it. Even out of a dead sleep. But like Thomas, when he crashes, he crashes. And that time if delightful. Toby is almost 8 months, so maybe the adult calm down will come in a couple of months?? Only time will tell....
Fenway is pretty similar to Giada. We've trained a lot this winter, but didn't make it for many walks either. I'm just not a cold weather girl. Fenway likes just about any weather except rain. She tiptoes through that. Fenway can be super hyper if we don't exercise her mentally, but she doesn't really require the physical exercise nearly as much. She's actually much more worn out if we go throw the tennis ball and have her do sits, stays, downs, etc. while fetching than if we go on a five mile hike. I guess what all this says is that she would probably be much more "high energy" if we didn't keep her so on her toes mentally.
Fergie has alway been go with the flow kind of girl. Now though, she has some very good doggy friends and when she gets together with them, the first 1/2 hour is crazy. Any teaching I've done with her goes right out the window and she's out-of-control. I hate that but she's still young (13 months). Other than that time she's kind of lazy. She gets her walk in the morning and loves that - lays around most of the day and is happy to do so. Her favorite is to lay outside and watch the birds. We are so looking forward to spring and some nicer weather. I'd like 50. I'd be so happy.
How old is Giada?

Caeleach became even more high energy, after she hit a year old.

Right now, she is bonkers. I can't even get her to slow down enough for our clicker sessions.

The vet says that Caeleach did not feel good for a month after her mistaken inoculations, so she is making up for lost time! LOL
Giada is 14 months old.............but I have never heard of them becoming MORE hyper. Hope that doesn't happen here, she is perfect the way she is!!!
