Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

For those of you that got your doodle from a breeder, did your doodles come with papers to register them? If so which registry?

I have a giant schnoodle and although I have records of his mom being pure G. Schnauzer and dad Std. Poodle. He isn't registered as I don't think one existed then but he is eligible as he is neutered. The AKC has also started registering mixed breeds under a special program allowing them to compete in sports at certain competitions.

Rosco (F1 LD) came with ILA paperwork...he's registered with the ILA I believe. But for me, it didn't mean a whole lot. If/when I ever get time to do it, I would like to compete in obedience with Rosco with the AKC.
Adina ..... When you get time (lol) ! That sounds like a good retirement plan to me. I think you'll be busy until then!
I know! But then I know one woman with 10 dogs and teenage kids, works, breeds a litter on occasion, gardens, cooks, AND competes with some of her dogs--SHEESH!
There's always ONE of them in a crowd. Don't even TRY to compare yourself to her. They have super powers that we normal human beings can only wish for!!!
She's a robot; if you cut her, wires and circuits fall out.
I do all of this too. Well okay so my kids are grown, I have only 2 dogs, work part time, haven't bred any litters, cook only on occasion and my dogs only compete to see who gets a treat first. But I do garden, see you can do it all : )
My dood's are registered with me.... LOVE... : )
The Canadian Kennel Club has no registry available for any mix breeds. They say that they are considering new breeds the doodles being one. There fore the important this here is to have all the background on the lineage as possible with proof of all the health testing that has been done on each dog in that lineup and thier results.the parents must be registered purebreds as well If they ever do register the breed, NOW as it stands there are TOO many inconsistencies in the breed to come up with a standard. They must conform to a breed standard. As you can see there are definetly no guarantees in what a doodle is when you see all the different types of hair/fur, size variable , shedding non. They are more likely to allow entry into some sanctioned activities beforee they allow a doodle to be registered.
Lucy and Sophie came with CKC paperwork but I didn't send it in ..... didn't matter to me!
GANA The Goldendoodle Association of North America is the first and only breed registry of the Goldendoodle (and NON profit). Currently for dogs to be registered they must be out of GANA registered dogs or from a GANA registered breeder. GANA requires health testing on all dogs that are registered as breeding stock, and to my knowledge (though I could be wrong :) ) it is the only registry so far to do so. The Labradoodles of course as mentioned have the IALA.

The ALAA/ILA requires health testing as well! They have an annual audit committee that verifies testing.
This is the American association correct? not to be confused by the Canadian Kennel Club.
