Just a few reminders

I hate to be a broken record but I would like to remind everyone of a few things:

1) Do not leave your dog, cat, child or any other living animal in a car unattended. Even on a "cool" day cars heat up quickly.

2) When walking your dog on pavement make sure the pavement is not too hot for their paws.  (I take my shoes and socks off and stand on pavement to check)

3) Check your house to make sure there is NO RAT POISON that could be accessable to your pet.  Double check, triple check. (I just read on another forum of a Doodle dying from rat poison that was "hidden" in the back of a closet).

4) Hug and pet them and show them your love all the time.  They only want to please you.

Would it help if you got the dog wet before leaving them in the car? I don't have a dog yet so maybe this is a silly suggestion.

Thank you thank you thank you for this! I live in a state where we have all four seasons and I know so many people that seem to not realize that it's the warm part of the year now (in reference to leaving pets in the car). Thanks again, it worries me so much when I see dogs in cars, even if the windows are cracked :/.

Yes thanks for all the great reminders.  Here's another I'd like to add.  Keep dogs on a leash when in unprotected surroundings.  Our neighbors were dogsitting their brothers' dog and the husband let the dog outside in the unprotected backyard without a leash.  The dog ran away and now has been missing for 2 days. Such a simple thing to do to keep our furkids safe.  Devastating.

Update on this missing dog...The dog actually came back to the dogsitter's house this morning.  Amazing animals!  PS the dog's name is Boomer.
