Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We're looking for a new member of our family and are determined to do our due diligence this time around. What's so frustrating is that so many (most???) of the recommended breeders do early spay and/or neuter and we will not purchase or adopt a puppy who has been.
Has anyone compiled a list of breeders who do NOT do this? I'm finding that an enormous of amount of time is spent researching breeders and then finding out they do - I'd rather not even look into them (recommendations, website, etc.).
I'm sure I'll hear a lot from people who are in favor of the practice - please understand that I believe everyone is free to have their own opinion, and I don't judge anyone for having one that's different than mine.
Thanks!

I'm hoping ESN will eventuallly be no more but it seems to be gaining momentum.
Charlotte is a multi-generational Australian labradoodle, and her breeder does not do early spay or neuter. Our contract stipulated that we send documentation that the procedure was done at the recommended time, which was just before her first heat. If you send me a friend request, I will happily share the contact information for Charlotte's breeder.
I think it is all up in the air at this time. Just ask your breeder if they do ESN and then just tell them thank you and goodbye. It is quite common these days not to do ESN so you should be able to find a breeder who does not do it. Just keep looking.
I'm with you 100%. I love my ALD boy and his breeder, but I would not purchase another pup, any pup, that was ESN. I'd like to think that if I talked with my breeder, now that she knows me, she would agree to let me take a pup on an agreement to spay/neuter by a certain age. There is an ALD breeder in MA that I contacted, with a reference from someone who got a puppy from her, and she said she'd be willing to talk with me and consider it. So it's worth asking. I wish ALD breeders who care so much about the well being of their dogs would stop this practice.
