Rosie is very mouthy does not discriminate as to what she puts in her mouth, so this time of year is scary, especially the mushrooms that are in our Lawn.  I take her out on the leash now so I can watch her and I try to pick them as much as possible, but yesterday I had a scare with her when she picked one up I thankfully caught her doing it right away and she dropped it...I do not know if they are the poisonus kind or not info on this is very confusing...I am going to a pet shop today and getting her a muzzle, I don't like doing this but it beats the alternative...has anyone else had experience with this kind of thing?  Any suggestions on getting her to stop putting anything and everything in her mouth would be most welcomed.  Thank you!

My two have always left any mushrooms alone luckily. I do pick them tight away because you never know. I also have never given thm mushrooms when I give them a home cooked taste of something because I don't want them to develop a "taste" for them.

There have been numerous discussions of pups who put everything in their mouths. Owen was infamous for dragging sticks inside. He once brought a huge branch through the dog door. I do not know how he managed it. I think that getting a muzzle when you are concerned for his safety is perfectly acceptable. It will also be important for you to teach him the "leave it" command. He needs to learn that nothing goes in his mouth that isn't approved by you. Good luck! Keep us posted.

obviously done while the DH was in charge.....

WOW!!!  that is a big stick...How Funny!!!!

LOL Lori!  that is  hilarious!

I second working on the "leave it" command. Important for any dog, and can really be a life-saver sometimes.

Update on Rosie vs. Lawn Mushrooms...went to the pet store and when the young lady tried to fit Rosie for a muzzle, Rosie would have no part of it...and I do not blame her!!!!  But, the young lady gave me a great idea, I am just going to fence off an area for her "Hurry Up"  and that will make it much easier to keep mushroom free...also I already have several of the exercise gates...Thank you all for your suggestions ...really appreciate the support!!!

Quincy thinks our lawn is an all you can eat salad bar so I am very diligent about picking out any mushrooms I see. The mushrooms we get in our lawn are tiny so it is a pain to pick them out, luckily they are only in a few spots.

I know what you mean, our mushrooms are very tiny also and they pop up so quickly, my mushrooms are scattered all over a large area so it makes it difficult to make sure I get them all...Quincy is so cute!

In our house the command is "Dont Touch" and Rosie knows this command...the problem is these mushrooms are very small and scattered over a large area of the lawn.  The reason why she dropped the mushroom yesterday was because I caught her and said "Don't Touch", but if I don't happen to see her grab it, then it could be really bad and I just don't want to chance that.  I think the fencing off an area is good, it will be easy to control and keep mushroom free...once again I appreciate all of your suggestions and support and so does Rosie!!!

We had the problem with our guys eating acorns.  I sprayed bitter apple on as many as I could.  They now will not touch them.  Perhaps if you spray the mushrooms Rosie will get the hint.

Thank you so much for the great suggestion, I will definitely look into that!
