Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
*****The owner has contacted me and she will be checking us out here on DK! More info to follow***As many of you know we have talked for YEARS about having a DK meet up where we could all bring our doodles. It just has never happened and although some of us are meeting this year to go on a Doodle Lovers Cruise - the doods are not welcome - LOL.
WELL DO I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS but I need your feedback NOW. How many people would SERIOUSLY (like in use your vacation, spend the money, etc) be open to taking your dogs to a Camp where they are off leash (unless taking part is some special training classes) to hike, do yoga, swim, canoe, sleep in your cabin with you?
That is right - I have found the perfect place and have sent them a message asking if they would accomodate a special "group" - US!!!! We would need 50 people at that is the max per camp session (4 days). I don't know the full cost per person yet but am finding out. If we couldn't get 50 people perhaps we could just all sign up for a session together, knowing that other - non doodle dogs would be there too.
I NEED YOUR FEEDBACK NOW - as I have contacted the owners. Once I hear back from you - I'll share the website so that you can all take a look
From their website
Take your dog on a 4-day weekend retreat to the beautiful relaxing countryside. Enjoy the company of other dogs and dog lovers, immerse yourselves in nature, celebrate the full free expression of your dog's dogness, and learn to think like a dog. You and your pooch will love it!
Each camp session offers dogs and their people a 4-day weekend retreat organized to be fun, satisfying, relaxing, and educational. The schedule is planned to keep the dogs active and participatory. Presentations and workshops teach campers how to take the best care of their dog. Sports and athletic activities led by experts engage the dogs and help campers understand how to maximize their dog's abilities. Participation in activities is optional, and some campers may choose to simply relax by the lake with their dogs.

Sue - I am totally looking at this for my dh and I with our doodles. They do NOT allow children though.
Sounds great! I would love to do it!
Oh - this does sound costly BUT if we PLAN & SAVE we can do it! Where there is a will, there is a way!!!! We don't eat out often but I'd gladly give up any dinner out and stick the savings in my Doodle Camp jar. Want that new sweater for fall, no - money in the DC (doodle camp) jar. Yard sale? I can come up with so many ideas.
If JD is well enough to go, and Ann picks us up and drives us there, we're in. :)
Karen - if I have to drive up from Florida to get you - I will!!!!
Start looking for coolers that will fit in the Puppymobile, lol. Jack has meds that have to be kept refrigerated. :)
It sounds like I'm clearly in the minority, but I avoid any experience that has the word "camp" associated with it.
Jane - look at the website - PLEEEEZ. It would be so much fun and I (Calamity Jane) would protect you from any scary outdoor type critters or varmits.
