Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

*****The owner has contacted me and she will be checking us out here on DK!  More info to follow***As many of you know we have talked for YEARS about having a DK meet up where we could all bring our doodles.  It just has never happened and although some of us are meeting this year to go on a Doodle Lovers Cruise - the doods are not welcome - LOL.

WELL DO I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS but I need your feedback NOW.  How many people would SERIOUSLY (like in use your vacation, spend the money, etc) be open to taking your dogs to a Camp where they are off leash (unless taking part is some special training classes) to hike, do yoga, swim, canoe, sleep in your cabin with you?

That is right - I have found the perfect place and have sent them a message asking if they would accomodate a special "group" - US!!!!   We would need 50 people at that is the max per camp session (4 days).  I don't know the full cost per person yet but am finding out.  If we couldn't get 50 people perhaps we could just all sign up for a session together, knowing that other - non doodle dogs would be there too.

I NEED YOUR FEEDBACK NOW - as I have contacted the owners.  Once I hear back from you - I'll share the website so that you can all take a look

From their website

Take your dog on a 4-day weekend retreat to the beautiful relaxing countryside. Enjoy the company of other dogs and dog lovers, immerse yourselves in nature, celebrate the full free expression of your dog's dogness, and learn to think like a dog. You and your pooch will love it!

Each camp session offers dogs and their people a 4-day weekend retreat organized to be fun, satisfying, relaxing, and educational. The schedule is planned to keep the dogs active and participatory. Presentations and workshops teach campers how to take the best care of their dog. Sports and athletic activities led by experts engage the dogs and help campers understand how to maximize their dog's abilities. Participation in activities is optional, and some campers may choose to simply relax by the lake with their dogs.

Me, too. I just want to meet everyone and I can't leave JD.

I am thinking Murphy would not be a happy camper either, lol.

Well we could always rehome them if it's too inconvenient to take them.......just saying. Lol

That would be a good exercise in how to respond to posts in a sympathetic and understanding manner!

"Hi, I have a 2 year old goldendoodle who needs a new home! He is a great dog, mostly housebroken, hardly ever eats my socks any more, and he only sheds a little. But I like to travel and it is getting too expensive to board him several times a year. I love him so much, but I really think he would be happier in a home with people who don't take as many vacations as I do."

yea right!

DITTO! re: "camp"

Jane, We can stay in the cabin together with our dogs and post a sign, "Do not enter...reactive dogs inside!" LOL

You probably won't need the sign, the sounds from inside the cabin will say it all, lol.

ROTFL

Actually if big Murph was off leash the whole time I'm thinking he wouldn't be reactive.....but then again who knows.  I do know that his trainer would have a stroke just thinking about big Murph in this setting. Jane, thanks for doing the research and if things were different I would definitely consider this.  After looking at the website it doesn't look "too primitive".

We have not stayed here but this place looks incredible.... http://www.barkwells.com/

My daughter and I have been looking into this one.  It looks wonderful.

I am going to decide after I cruise with some of you people....LOL! Actually, this would be out for us. Fudge is not a romper!!
