Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

OMG there are two Labradoodles found this evening wandering around together lost.  One is black with grey the other is more reddish cream color.  They are such nice dogs.  I drove around our neighborhood, and the neighborhood behind us.  A guy on our street asked me if I'd lost mine because he knew I had one because he saw them loose.  I'd be going out of my mind.  The were pretty dirty as it has been raining and storming here.  Anyhow the woman said she'll put them in her garage, but she notified the Hamilton Humane Society, and the Vet around the corner.  They were not chipped nor did they have tags.  I told her to contact me if she didn't find their owner so that I could contact the Doodle Rescue.  She didn't want to give me her street number, but I got it and know where she lives and where they are, but that's it.

BYB stands for Back Yard Breeder - someone who breeds their dog in the hope to make some money without health testing, or carefully breeding. They will sell dogs to anyone who has money instead of looking for suitable homes. They are obviously very lax with their dogs - how can they loose them AGAIN! If they are found, I would pretend I didnt know and re-home them through DRC, they deserve better lives
Thank you Kaytlin.  That is horrible!!!!
Isn't there anyway to take them and re-home them given they are being mistreated? Why isn't there social services for abused dogs? If you find hem again, take them and have them fixed. I'll chip in for the cost. This way the owner won't want them anymore and they can be rehomed.
As sad as it is, seizing a dog legally isn't as easy as you might hope.  The law defines what abuse is and what we consider abuse and deplorable conditions don't always qualify.  It makes me sick and having worked with a shelter before it makes everyone involved angry and upset when they can't rescue a dog because the owner is within the limits of the law.

pretty sure they aren't being abused.  They just aren't well kept. There is a difference, abuse is when they are not fed, they are sick and not treated, beaten.. this is not the case.

I am not defending the owner either. I do not agree with allowing dogs to roam.

Someone could see my 3 year old with a dirty face and shirt with no pants on and bruised legs and think he is abused but the reality is it is cinnamon and sugar on his face from his toast after breakfast, milk on his shirt and no pants because he couldn't pull them up after he went potty, the bruises are because he is a 3 year old boy is plays rough!

They do not looked abused.  They were dirty dogs, but looked happy.  I wasn't able to feel their bellies as they were in the car.  I only petted their heads, and they give lots of licks in return.  I think the biggest worry here is that when dogs wander they can get hurt.  On the other hand there is a real case of abuse one street over from us, but the police have not done anything so far.  There is a Rottweiler who is crated in the garage all the time in a crate that is way too small for him, and he is extremely vicious, and who could blame him.  The police have been called several times, and they had to tazer him once to get him back.  It's disgusting.  Some people should not own dogs, and if people have problem dogs then they need to step up to the plate and do something about the situation for the safety of all concerned.  Animal abuse sickens me.  I hope the dogs get back safe and sound, and pray that the owner changes the way they handle these pups...

Any updates, Diane?  Does she still have the dogs?
Hi Kathy.  If you look through the previous posts you'll see that Nobel Vestal posted that they were returned to the owner, but then they got loose again.  Hopefully they found their way home again.
