Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

The show is now in its second week (I had a previous discussion about this a few weeks ago) at a local theater and Mattie is playing Sandy so well! She has things to do off leash on the stage and even a packed house of people, mics, loud singing and bright lights have not distracted her!

At the end of the show, she comes out to the lobby to meet her fans--many people and are amazed at how well behaved she is ask me what type of dog she is so it is nice to be a great representation of Labradoodles...we have both really enjoyed it.

I sit backstage with her throughout all the shows so that she is not lonely between scenes--some days we are at the theater from 1 pm until 11 pm! She is pretty tired at the end of the day---at 11 and 1/2, this is a bit exhausting for her, but she has handled it well and loves all the attention. As a therapy dog, she is used to a lot of petting and giving love, so the cast of young actors have taken advantage of that.

Look at how nicely she lies down with Annie while she sings Tomorrow--no one had to teach her this---she just does it! Here are a few quotes from the reviews about Mattie!

"The ONLY moment she could possibly be considered to have been upstaged is by the entrance of the stray dog “Sandy” who bounds on stage, on cue, eliciting a round of applause that swells to a crescendo when “he” – the program credits Matilda Nightingale in the role – responds perfectly to the “Here, Sandy!” command, and gleefully lopes off-stage. No doubt the performance was inspired by the pre-show belly rubs and pep talk the canine cutie was seen receiving prior to curtain."

"Two others who contribute beautifully to the show’s overall impact are Brian Wagner as Warbucks’ butler Drake and Matilda Nightingale as Sandy, the stray dog who takes up with Annie and is occasionally detained by the cops."

"Matilda Nightingale as Sandy"! I love it!

That is how she is listed in the program--Someone asked me about her "fancy" name--I said "Nightingale is my last name, I did not make it up!" HAHA!

Awesome!!! Wish I could see her in it!

Sounds like you have a prodigy!  And thank you Miss Matilda Nightingale for representing Doodles so well!

This is delightful! Yay Mattie!!!

Mattie the star!  Love her review.  It is so cool when you have a dog that is so well behaved you can put them on stage!

Well, don't forget that she will be 12 in February! I don't think it would have been possible a few years ago! But she is a smart one for sure and knows her part!

Two more shows left --13 down--perfect every night! SOOO many treats and so much attention--will have to put her on a diet after tomorrow!!

I am still soooo impressed.  Ned and Clancy are 10 and behave less well than they did when they were younger.

Ginny, This is so fantastic and exciting. Way to go, Mattie :)

AWESOME REPRESENTATION of 'doodles....Way to go Mattie!
