I'm a little mad. I just found a piece of metal in Ollie's food. I took it out so obviously he is fine. But how does this even happen?

What kind of food?  I would definitely go back to where you bought it....someone needs to report this.  Very concerning.

Dont feed any more of it in case theres more metal. Keep the metal piece as evidence

I would contact to food company directly. Theres very little a store can do other than take the food back and perhaps give you money back or a new bag/can. Some stores will return it to the distributor, some foods go back to the food manufacturer but not many in my experience. Definitely mention it to the store though. Keep the label - it should have a lot number or expire date

If its a good company they will do their best to find the source of the contaminant and perhaps recall the batch. If its a lower quality food, like Pedigree, Eukaneuba, Ceaser etc I doubt they will do anything.

Id be interested to know which food it is

I would also like to know the brand and how big a piece is it? Can you take a picture and post? Must have been a good size for you to notice. Scary.
I am on my way to work now I did not think to take a picture, I will when I get home. Am I allowed to post the brand?

yeah I dont think thats a problem

Yes, absolutely you can post the brand, and please give us the specific formula, too.

I would call the company too. They need to find the source of that metal and how it got into the dog food!

this is horrible! I am looking forward to hearing more. I hope you report it and get your money back. Good for you for noticing it before Ollie did!

That is worrisome but all kinds of mishaps happen in factories. And of course after reading the recent post about what has gone into some foods in the past I'm surprised we don't hear more of this. Of course it's the toxins and things we can't see that's the scariest problem.

Thank God you found the piece of metal.  One time years back I was eating cottage cheese and found a piece of black metal that was really sharp in the cottage cheese.  I saved the piece and sent it back to the company with a letter.  All they did was respond with a letter saying that the food is processed on machinery and sometimes "things" happens, etc etc.  -  geezz they did not even give me a coupon - I guess they figured that I was not going to buy their product any more so why bother.

I once found a huge curved piece of glass in a jar of strained baby food peaches! It was part of another jar that must have broken on the assembly line or something! This was in the days before computers, and I called the store. All they said was if I wanted another jar I could return it! No questions about brand, lot numbers, etc. I realize now that I should have tried to contact the manufacturer, but at the time, I threw it away and started purchasing another brand.

Yikes! That is scary! Makes me want to go through Parker's food before he eats it! I am curious to know what Brand you use! Definitely call the company and let them know! That is so dangerous!
