Ragley is getting spayed tomorrow and and I am (way) overdue in getting her microchipped so I was planning on getting it done tomorrow during the spay. I am filling out the surgical consent form which includes the microchipping part, but I noticed that the type of microchipping they offer is in the form of a yearly subscription- is that normal? When I rescued my cat four years ago, she came with a microchip that is lifetime registration type of thing. Is there an option for a microchip that I don't have to pay a subscription each year for? It's not that I mind paying for a subscription, but if there is a different option I'd be interested in looking into it.
Also, I think I am prepared for her spay as I have been reading old discussions, etc. and have some experience with it, but any and all advice is welcome! One of my main questions is about the blood screening- it's $44.50 for a basic blood screen- is it worth it?
And, of course- I'll include a picture :)

Nice! Not sure what your dream job is, but so happy you got it! :)
Haha well thank you! I got a position in a new graduate nurse residency program in OB. Women's Health is an extremely competitive area in which to get a job so I am thrilled that I will be able to start my career there!
Congratulations, Stephanie, very happy for you!
Congrats on the job and so glad Ragley is okay!! Keep us posted on the progress, healing, etc.. Daisy goes in next month.
Ragley is doing great this morning! She was rather lethargic and "out of it" last night, but after a restful evening and a good night's sleep, she has perked back up to her normal self. I am feeling so fortunate that she is not an extremely active doodle because I can already tell that just keeping her from jumping and playing with our other dog is going to be difficult. I decided to go the t-shirt route and found an old v-neck shirt to place on her backwards and tie on with two ribbons. I tied it on easy-walk-harness-style with one ribbon holding it around her trunk and the other around her chest and attached to the first ribbon to keep the shirt from slipping off. With the v-neck, I actually don't even have to remove the shirt for bathroom breaks because it stays clear of all bathroom areas while still covering the stitches.
You can sort of tell in the picture:
Love it! She looks like a little hippie! She is so adorable...
Cute!
I know I have been MIA again! But I knew Ragley was getting spayed soon and wanted to check in. I am glad to here she is doing well. Very cute picture!
I registred mine through a LIFETIME fee of 30.00 via http://www.microchipregistrationcenter.com they accept all microchips. Def. worth looking into, my breeder sent the registration form and after seeing the rash of summer missing animals I bought a membership.
Hope this helps and that she recovers quickly!
