Poor Molly, she came up limping on Tuesday night, and it carried on for another two days. Finally I had her into the vet - we have a new one here in Tweed. That's a very nice thing but unfortunately his accent is SOOO heavy we can barely understand him. Not his fault but I think perhaps we'll communicate in writing.
Anyway, I had looked all over her paw, pads, between toes, etc., and couldn't find anything. He finds something right off and shaves between her toes right at the top. A huge red lump. Poor girl is still limping. Anyway, she is on some pretty heavy duty meds one of which is akin to prednisone. Yikes that can cause all kinds of side effects.
Anyway, I am so proud of her for one thing, she just doesn't get upset with the poking and prodding, and it must have hurt like stink. The vet even commented on how calm she seemed.
The meds can produce these side effects: increased thirst, increased hunger, diarrhea, aggression. Boy I am not happy about this at all but got to get this infection under control. Don't even know why it started. Vet seems to think she got something stuck into her skin and it festered.
Now I have to try to keep her paw wrapped so she won't lick it so much. Here's a pic.
This is my query, does anyone in the food group, I am not a member, know of a good probiotic for dogs? I have never fed her one before as on her raw diet I don't think she needs any, but with the antibiotics and other meds, I am worried about her guts flora.

Poor Molly, I hope her paw heals quickly!
Antibiotics always give Jack an upset tummy. I use Gentle Digest capsules by Ark Naturals, they seem to help a lot.
Oh Andrea...I'm so sorry for your precious Molly!
I pray that her paws heal quiclky and she is up and about...and causing a Lot Of Doodle Trouble!!
Doodle Hugs from Sasha and Me...
I had to laugh at your description of what the prednisone is going to do to her, since I am on prednisone all the time... I guess those things are true. HA.
I am sorry about her foot, what a great patient, had that been Jack he would have been demanding I carry him around. He is not the most stoic of all dogs, that is for sure.
I use Petzymes which is a great pro-biotic. I just sprinkle it over his food and he eats it., He will not eat yogurt but this stuff is very concentrated..
Hope she is on the mend quickly
