Murphy is moving along.  He had radiation on Wednesday on his nose. The other black "freckles" were radiated also. I am very pleased about that. The whitish area is where the melanoma was,

After our visit to our vet, we are going to let the wound close by itself. Dr. Mac

said she could clean it up and resuture it one more time but it was trying to close on its own. Besides, Murph Man would just rip it open again. So true.

The vet school did some heavy shaving on the leg so he looks poodle-ish.

After he chewed the sutures out he got staples.

The first leg picture was taken today.

This is what his leg looked like after the staples...pretty good, huh?

Kisses to Murphy.
Owie! I'm glad that leg is finally healing. Hugs to Murph and to you!
This sounds like a better way to go with the leg after so much time has passed. Sometimes bodies do a better job than outside intervention. The wound looks good considering : ) When it's healed and the surrounding fur grows it will look fine.
Oh poor baby!
OMD, poor Murphy!  I sure hope this guy starts to feel better soon, and the worse is over.
Much better! I can't believe what this poor guy is going through--and they say melanoma is pretty rare in dogs--is that not true or is Murphy just one of the unlucky few?
Melanoma is actually relatively common in dogs, depending on breed of course. Golden Retrievers have the highest incidence of all types of cancers of any breed.
That is certainly a sobering fact. This has been a good lesson is watching for little skin changes.

That looks painful....poor baby - Bruin gives puppy breath kisses Murphy  :o)

Poor baby! Lots of smoochy talk and kisses coming his way!
Oh poor Murphy.  That open wound looks nasty.  I am a bit confused.  Did that have anything to do with the melanoma or was it a cyst/benign tumor that just need removal so he was treated for both at once?  I hope Murphy is feeling no pain and being his usual happy self.  Kisses to him!

They removed a hemangioma there. They were afraid it could be a hemagiosarcoma because all they could aspirate was blood. It turned out to be benign.
