Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi all! I'm Leanne and new Mummy to our new 11 week Golden Doodle.
So today has been wonderfully terrifying. We drove 2 hours to pick him up and the poor little fella was sick all the way home. He was very docile and looked rather sad, but not anxious or nervous which I thought was strange. He kind of took it all in his stride. First things first once we arrived home, he had some water, which he was super grateful for after being so poorly in the car. Then he had his first bath and I was pleasantly surprised at how calm he was. Of course his little tail was firmly between his legs, but he didn't try to flee and wasn't bothered at all by the hairdryer.
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring, having dinner and learning to take the step in and out of the house to the garden. Very cute to watch.
He's now snuggled up fast asleep on the sofa beside me. I've been a little concerned that he's so calm. Never expected that. He hasn't nipped or chewed anything (yet). Excited to see what tomorrow brings.
I feel bad for the poor baby after he pees. I wonder if he got a smack before he came to us because after he peed and pooped he tried to run away from me and hide his nose under his paws. Broke my heart :(
He doesn't have a name yet. I'm stuck between Arthur & Paddington.
Anyway, here he is.. I'm in love.

I love both names, you can't go wrong with either. I am sure that he will perk up over the next day or two. I just brought my pup home and he slept most of day 1 but got his groove back on day 2 :) This site is a wealth of information. Congrats on your new family member, he is a cutie pie and post lots of pics.
He is so cute! I agree with everyone else that he is just tired--there is a little "honeymoon" for about three days where the pup adjusts to his new home and doesn't make a peep--then it all changes once they are familiar with their new surroundings! If he continues to be quiet and scared though, i agree that you should take him to the vet.
When he goes outside to potty, bring treats--praise, praise praise and give a treat! He will learn that pottying means party-time! Right now he might not know what to expect.
He is very cute! I love either name! Keep the pictures coming!
He is adorable. He is so quiet probably because he is scared about this new development. He will soon settle in and you will long for the quiet of today.... :-}
Leanne, Welcome to DK! It's such a great spot for information and to develop friends who love their doodles. Your pup is just as cute as can be! Enjoy it all! Love your name choices. I'm anxious to hear what you finally choose. ;o)
What a cutie! The first day home is tiring and traumatic for a pup. With your love and attention, he will adjust soon!
He is so cute! Keep us updated, I love both of the names!
Oh my gosh, what a cute boy! It's such a joy to get to know your baby, enjoy these days, they fly by! Takes a lot of pictures.
What a cute puppy.... give him a day or two to adjust then the real puppy with emerge :) My Oliver was sick on the 2.5 hour ride home and he was pretty quite the first night. But each day after he started coming out of his shell and getting use to his new surroundings. Give the little guy some adjustment time, I love the name Arthur !!!
What a cutie-pie he is! And, since the original meaning of "Arthur" is "bear," that seems like a perfectly fitting name for your little guy. Enjoy him to pieces :o)
