Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We are leaving in the morning for a week in Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park! For my DH's birthday, I rented a small house up there that allows dogs, so Mattie and Rio are coming along. Lyric is just a few weeks from delivering her pups, so she will stay with the breeder for the week.
I am looking forward to taking the dogs on the beach, as they have never been on one--it should be fun to see their reactions to waves! We live on a stream which they wade into all the time, but this is something totally different. I hope they love it! There are lots of beautiful hiking trails too and dogs are allowed on most of them. Bar Harbor is a dog-crazy town, so this should be a lot of fun.
I will take lots of pictures and share with all of you--I am hoping to get one that will be good for the doodle calendar!

Oh Ginny...we love Bar Harbor and vacationed there for years when our childen were young!
Acadia is beautiful...lots of places to hike...the ocean is beautiful (make sure you take time to just sit on the huge rocks and enjoy the beauty of the ocean)...and don't forget Sand Beach. I hope you like lobster...because it's pleantiful and delicious!! Lol..
The Jordan Pond House is a nice place for lunch after an easy hike around the lake. They have amazing lobster chowder and Huge yummy home-made pop-overs that I still dream of! (smile).
It's a great spot to take some of those photos for the Doodle Calendar that you were talking about too!
You...DH and the Doodles are going to have such fun...exploring the Island and seeing the sights.
Beware...the water never gets warm...but the Doodles will probably love it.
Not a lot of beaches...and at this time of year it won't be crowded...so it shouldn't be a problem with romping and going in the water.
I can't wait to see the pictures you take and hear all about the Great Time you all had!
Happy Birthday to your DH...from Sasha and Me...
Got to the house today and doodles are settling in nicely--so far, so good. The house is very nice, but simple and low-key--nothing here for the dogs to destroy--not that they would. They have their toys and their chewie things (cow hooves) and they are just fine. There is a big yard to walk them in and lots of woods around--perfect! The weather is gorgeous and the full moon reflecting on the harbor tonight was so beautiful--what a nice change from Hurricane Irene and Tropical storm Lee!
Tomorrow we will find a trail to hike and beaches to explore!
