Once again Schulz has made us proud

He has been such a great family dog. My kids adore him and he ADORES them. In fact my 5 year old and him have become best friends....I am only slightly jealous...he is my dog after all. 

Anyway, we were in the front yard playing which we do from time to time. We do not live in a busy street but with kids and a dog you have to be so careful no matter what. 

When anyone walks by, Schulz will happily greet them but always standing between and said person and one of my kids. People do not get a chance to come to the kids with out him there. My three year old started to go in the street and we were headed to get her, and Schulz herded her back in to our driveway. Going back and forth forcing her to turn around and not go out. It was incredible. He really is the perfect fit for my family.

I have seen Newfoundlands and other working breeds who always position themselves between kids and an approaching stranger, it's a remarkable instinct, but never a poodle or sporting breed. And the herding your daughter back to safety is very impressive. Good boy, Schulz, you are clearly a very smart doodle who loves his family very much!

Back when I was a baby, we had a German Shepherd named Daisy.  My mother told me that she could let the kids outside to play with the dog and had NO worries @ all. ( remember this is back in the day when you could let your kids outside to play alone) Daisy would trot the property line, and herd the kids back into the yard if they wandered too far, and wouldn't let anyone onto the property when the kids were out with her.  I do not remember her, but my mom and sisters talk to this day about what a remarkable dog she was..
