Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We live in Orange County, California- actually Mission Viejo. Does anyone know of any Goldendoodle owners or breeders out this way. We think this is probably the right dog for us and would love to meet some.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Welcome to DK. You'll find a ton of resources on this site about the dogs themselves and breeders as well.
I'm in Ventura county. Not a convenient visit unless you happen to be traveling in the area for other reasons.
There is a Southern Cal group on this site that you could look into as well as a Breeders group.
We too had a golden. She died two weeks shy of her 15th birthday. We loved everything about her except the shedding. She shed enough each week to knit a new puppy. I was adamant about not getting another dog until I accidentally discovered the goldendoodles. We brought home 9 week old Daisy in mid-September. We haven't had one moments regret. She is sweet, affectionate, quite intelligent, loaded with personality and a real goof ball. In fact she is so great I want to get a second this spring.
Ours is a medium--30-45 lbs. All the breeders I found in southern Cal breed standards or minis. Too large and too small for what we were looking for. Medium breeders may be out there in So Cal, but I didn't discover them. We brought ours in from Oregon. I'd be happy to share more about our experiences and the breeders name if you're interested.
Hi Steve,
Your Daisy looks about like what we would like in a Doodle. What breeder did you use?
We don't get up to Ventura much. But if we ever do I would love to meet you and Daisy. And of course, if you ever get down this way please let us know. John n Joanie Migeot, 949 683 0001, migeot@cox.net. Did you drive up to Oregon? Would love to hear the story.
Thanks for responding.
John
John, because doodles vary from litter to litter, even if you see someone with a doodle you like, there's no guarantee that THAT same breeder will have an equal number of THAT kind of doodle every time. Making doodles is like having kids. Two parents can make 10 kids but there's no guarantee what any of them will look like except some combo of the two parents. Anyway, I'm just saying this because MOST breeders will have a variety of pups and some that look JUST like the kind you want. So...don't limit yourself. The MOST important thing is to find a responsible breeder FIRST (and I'm NOT implying that Steve's was not...only speaking in generalities) that breeds the size and generation of doodle you want and has health testing proof on all the parent dogs. The rest can be figured out when the litter is born. A LOT of breeders are willing to ship so as long as you can find references from several people who have en to the home of the breeder you will be fine =)
You can search on our members page for cities in Orange County or nearby...just click on the Members tab at the top and then click on "advanced search" and put in various cities one at a time. You might find several near you. Also are you anywhere near Huntington Beach? I know there is a large group of doodle owners that has monthly get-togethers there...check our Events page.
Welcome to DK... This is a great site to learn about and enjoy Doodle information.

We live in North San Diego County, in Escondido, inland from Oceanside.

I am sure that there must be reputable breeders in our area however, we selected Heather Goine's Cheyenne Valley Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. Heather is located just north of Dallas Texas and is a member of DK. Although Heather safely ships her puppies by air, I opted to travel to Texas and pick up Holly. I wanted to see her parents and see where she was born. I was very satisfied in both cases.

Holly is the most amazing dog we have ever owned and that encompasses a lot of dogs, both pure-bred and mixed breeds. She is healthy, beautiful, smart and very loving. Holly attracts more attention than any dog I have ever walked with. People even stop their cars to ask about her. It is not unusual for one person or couple to stop and ask about Holly and before they are through, several more people are gathered around Holly. I am proud that she is so gorgeous and even prouder about her very polite behavior with strangers.

Doodles in general are wonderful dogs! If I wanted a second Doodle. I would definitely go back to Heather.
