Orvis Deep Dish Dog Bed

Hi everyone!  I was thinking of ordering Cooper a dog bed from Orvis.com.  It's the "Deep Dish Dog Bed" with memory foam.  I was wondering if any of your doodle has this bed and if he/she likes it.  It has very good reviews.  I bought Cooper a rectangular bed from PetSmart.  He doesn't sleep on it but uses it as a pillow while he is laying on the wood floor.  I thought if I get him the deep dish bed, he can use the side as a pillow.  Thanks in advance for any input!

I'm in Canada and ordered the bed because they were offering free shipping. I'm not sure I can afford to send it back - it is heavy and the shipping will be $$$$$!!! He might just have to curl up tighter at night!! I am going to contact them though about their size recommendations - clearly a 90lb dog would not fit on that bed!!

Stella, I just got our bed today. I ordered an XXL and inside the box was a return label. I bet if you use that label and call and complain about the fit, you will not be charged for shipping it back for an exchange. Good luck. The XXL is enormous.

I bet they have good customer service. Just give them a call and they might pay for the return shipping. I'm sure they would want your dog to love his bed and one that fits him.

I measured Jack's old bed before I ordered the Orvis bed. He is one who likes to stretch out, never curls himself into a ball, and he weighs around 80 lbs. But he is built more like a Lab than a Poodle. The L would have been deep enough for him, but not long enough, so I got the XL.

I decided to check it out. "Ouch" on the price. That is way too much money for this retired doodle mom to spend. I am still debating the Big Shrimpy bed.

It is pretty pricey and that's what's stopped me from getting one. There have been a lot of offers on Groupon for Orthopedic or memory foam dog beds for $30-40, but I have a feeling this is one of those "You get what you pay for" things.   

Has anyone done a comparison on types and quality of foams? The Big Shrimpy looks good and has a lot of good reviews.

It is pretty pricey. I took a picture of the bed without the cover in case anyone wants to see what it looks like. It is really well made and quite heavy. I don't know how it compares to the Big Shrimpy.

Sue I had bought the orthopedic foam one from Petsmart. I believe I bought it for $40, 50% off. Compare to Orvis, it was very light. One of my boys did say it was a very comfortable bed though. Lol the material that covered the bed was very thin. So when Cooper scratched it a few times, he tore it up :(. For some strange reason, once in a while he'll scratch his bed before he lays down :/. We always having to tell him "enough!" Lol. I read somewhere it was to put their scent on it.

Our Orvis bed just arrived today. I ordered the one shown in XXL and I swear Vern, Fudge, and I could all sleep in it. I am praying Vern starts preferring that bed to our bed soon :)

Wow, the XL is huge, I don't even think the XXL would fit in my bedroom! You must post a picture!

It is huge. I will try and get a picture tomorrow of both dogs on it. I keep telling everyone we are downsizing. LOL The darn bed is taking up half my dining room.

Yes! I agree with Karen. You MUST post a picture! I would love to see one with just Vern in it and one with all three of you! LOL!!!

Better yet, include a blog about your doodle experience with the new bed ;). I bet you'll have a funny one. :D

Thanks, Jenny. I will try and get a picture. So far, it has not encouraged them to leave our bed at night. I guess I need to add pillows and a comforter :)
