Hi all,

I was just wondering if you guys had any reccommendations for pet insurance (i am sure there are other discussions on this subject I dont know about!). Parker is currently with VPI but I am not sure I am satisfied with their coverage....they seem to find every loophole to get out of reimbursing me ANYTHING. His last vet bill of $350 got zero dollars in reimbursement and therefore I am not sure it is worth the $40 a month to pay for insurance when I could have just put that money toward the vet bill I am apparently not covered for!

Thanks!
Katie and Parker

Katie, there are many discussions on pet insurance, and have been even recently.  If you do a search for Pet Insurance you will find them.  I know there are different deductibles and different percentage reimbursement levels.  I also know some things are excluded.  What was wrong with Parker?

We have PetPlan for Rua and hope we don't have to use it.  It covers illnesses and accidents, so it isn't for routine visits, nor would it have covered her spay.  I got it so I would never have to think about "how are we going to pay for that" should something major happen.

Dori, Have you had your PetPlan get renewed with the new carrier yet? We got notified a few months ago, and went a month without a payment coming out of my bank. Then this month I had deductions that were doubled. I'm hoping that they just took the past month and not doubled my premiums for each policy.

Joe, the reason they don't charge you the last month is because when you sign up for Pet plan, they take the first and last month of your premiums, so when the switched companies, they didn't charge you the last month because you already paid it,

The new company that took over also charges first and last month so that is why they took double payment. How do I know this you ask??? The same thing happen to me about six months or so ago.

The new plan actually covers more holistic stuff including hydro therapy. I am very excited about that should I ever need it.

Thanks Jennifer. I probably would have discovered that if I actually took the time to read through everything. I did know from the initial notifications there was going to be more coverage.
Hmmm.  I don't know anything about a change.  I did, though, pay my entire years premium in one payment.
That could be why, mine comes out monthly out of my bank account...Do you get a discount for paying it all in one shot? I will do that if you do. I didn't think you did
We paid the entire year too and there was not a discount.  I would have thought we would still hear about changes though.
Hi, I will see if I can find the other discussions. Nothing is wrong with Parker right now but he had gotten a bacteria from swallowing a dead bird and it was a $350 vet bill and we were counting on some kind of reimbursement since well him eating a dead, rotting animal and getting a bacteria from it is more along the lines of accidental illness and not something genetic or anything. I dunno...in Parker's kindergarten class, no one had anything nice to say about VPI anyway so after this, I just think I want to look into something else.
We have VPI and thy have been pretty good. I suggest you call them and request a review of your claim.  The last time I did that they had made an error and sent me a checkfor additional coverage.
It seems like a lot of members on here have Petplan there are lots of discussions on this. Good luck!
Pet Plan Pet Plan and Pet Plan. They pay for everything, They have never denied my claims. ever. Lot of options, Search pet insurance in the search box and you will see the overwhelming majority of people are very happy with Pet Plan

I have PetPlan and decided on them from the many discussions and opinions here. I just sent in my first claim recently to see what the process was like and if they would even pay it. It was just for Bella's month long bout of diarrhea. No real diagnosis, got some antibiotics, probiotics and the Vet guessing it might be a food allergy.

After the deductable and one test that wasn't covered, I got a check for $42.00 from a 172.00 bill. I actually thought it was very simple and got a check very quickly.
