Please help me with advice as I adopt this rescue.

I have a happy annoucement.  We are about to be the new parents of a male baby goldendoodle.  This all happened within the last 5 hours and we just got the phone call.  This is a rescue situation, very sad and our new little guy is only 7 weeks old, too young to be away from his mommy.  I need all the advice I can get.  I'll leave very early Monday for the drive to Atlanta to adopt Crosby, Stills or Nash.  I must not put Rooney in harms way till I find out the medical condition of our new puppy.  Rooney will go to our dog sitters till I get our new little guy and get him to our vet.  Please please please say a prayer that our new little guy is healthy.  I'll be in Atlanta (thank goodness my daughter lives there) Monday and Tuesday evening.  Wednesday and Thursday I have to stop in Ocala and I am looking for a good vet there to start the check up.  I had already planned to be there for a nephews graduation and I can't get out of that now.  Does anyone know of a good vet in the Ocala area?  This has happended so fast, yes we were on the wait list for a puppy from our breeder but my heart goes out to these puppies - they need us more than we need them.  Our paws are crossed.  I'm scared, excited and nervous.

You will be just fine when you hold him in your arms.  Take with you some itunes of Steven Stills playing that guitar.  Sing all the way to Georgia.  Write us as soon as you get there.

and on another note, this is a rescue agency. They have already checked out these pups at least once and given the needed/or not needed medical care.  They would not be sending out a sick puppy.  They are in the business of HELPING animals.  They love animals too! I'm sure ( especially by those cute pictures) that he is healthy.

Jane-so excited for you! I hope that all goes well and he is healthy and also that Rooney can adjust right away with no problems either. Oh my gosh how exciting!!! Sorry no real advice just happy for you and Rooney!! (hope he likes kitties!)

Jane! I am so excited for you! What a wonderful turn of events. I will be praying that your puppy is healthy and makes the adjustment easily, Rooney, too! Congratulations!!!

 

Years ago I was a devotee of a dog trainer that advised the perfect time for a puppy to leave his mother and be incorporated into his forever home was 49 days. Your pup will be just fine and he is coming to a home with another dog so it is going to be great. Hooray!

We have been promised either Crosby, Stills or Nash.  This is Nash if you click on the above.  How dog gone adorable is he.  2 other people are selecting tomorrow so at 5:00 p.m. we will be told which one ours.  They are all cute.  I just hope that they are somewhat healthy (no parvo) as they are coming from a very bad situation.  I'm guessing puppy mill.  The mom is a golden and the dad a goldendoodle.  I have no clue - what does this make this puppy?  Who cares they need us and Rooney get a BROTHER!    Yippee.  Of course Stills or Nash will be named Stuart.  But get this - we had a yellow lab that was named Crosbey - so if we get Crosby we'll change the spelling but his name will be the same.

Congratulations.  If mom is an F1 it makes the pup an F1b.  But not the way we usually think of it.  There is at least one other person that has this kind of F1b on DK.
