So after a fantastic day at the dog park with Shelby and Knox and after picking out about a bajillion burs from his fur and bathing him in a gallon of shampoo, Ollie was completely wiped out. After his bath and us napping, I noticed his paw pad had a flap of skin on it. It didn't bleed at all, and he was so tired that I didn't think it really even bothered him. Today is a different story. The dog is pitiful. He doesn't want to stand let alone walk. The flap of skin came off (he either chewed it or it fell off) and he looks at me like it's the worst thing in the whole world. I have to bring him his bowl of food and water and practically drag him down three, yes three, flights of stairs to go potty. I have put neosporine on it and right now I have a sock on him so he won't lick of the ointment. I plan to wait and see if he is still this sad tomorrow and if so I'll take him in. Is there anything I can give him for the pain? Is there anything I should look out for? It doesn't look too bad...it looks kind of like a popped blister. He is either a wimp or in a ton of pain. And those boots are now on my shopping list.

No advice but hoping Ollie is better in the morning! Keep us posted!
Thanks Ricki! He is a little better today. I hope it is even better tonight for bed!
Aww, so sorry for the injury but that photo is so cute. If the sock needs to stay on outside - I wonder if a tube type sock might stay on better. Hope it heals fast!!!!
A tube sock would be better lol I did tape this up so it would stay on his foot! Though he won't walk much even with it own!
Baby socks from Old Navy (or the Gap, if you want to spend more) worked really well for me. They're thick & stretchy, and have little nonskid things on the soles.
I should go get some of them. I own little boy undies for him, but now socks yet! lol
That's a great idea. I got little boy socks for Monty at Kmart (we can't do baby socks since his paws are huge). I also tape the sock around his ankle since otherwise they slide off with his help.
Poor Ollie, he looks quite sad and feeling a bit sorry for himself there, I do hope his sore paw pad fixes very fast.
He is definitely feeling sorry for himself...he lets out long sighs so I know.
Poor Ollie-you do look sad. Maybe a kid's sock would be better if he has to wear it outside? Good luck!
He is feeling pretty sad about all of this. He is usually really bouncy...this is pausing his runs around the apartment!
