Aria is coming home on Friday March 14, and I was ready to set the potty training to go outside, I have a backyard fully fenced and I don"t think that would be a problem because Aria is not fully vaccinated she will be 10 weeks when I get her. My friend which she have a gorgeous toy poodle advice me not to take my puppy outside at all until all the vaccine is done and let her go potty in a house. I am taking a month off from work so I can take care and teach her how to live with human.

I would like everyone to give me your opinion : potty inside or outside????

I have been following DK for a year now try to learn as much as I could ( and I did) before puppy come home, but  when it get closer and closer Im very nervous  if I will make the best choices for my puppy girl. I know that I have DK full of wonderful people and ready to help.

Dexter came home on friday and I've been taking him outside every hour, after every meal, waking up, playing drinking......

We are outside a lot but he hasn't had a single accident yet.  He is starting to get the hang of it and goes to the door now.  He won't come inside until he is totally done either.  I did this with Bear and have never had a problem.  I think if you train them to go potty in the house you are going to have an even harder time unteaching that later.  I think it would be confusing to be able to go inside and then suddenly be told it's wrong and I have to go somewhere else.

This has always worked for me but I am sure other people have other ways that work just as well.  I look forward to reading the responses.

I think if you train her in the house until she's fully vaccinated you're going to have a heck of a time trying to switch that to outside training. I trained Max to go outside from the day he came home, also with a fenced backyard. I personally wouldn't want my dog going in the house for any reason intentionally. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I agree.

my 2 cents=outdoors so you don't have to undo what you will work hard to do!

I agree completely.

I suggest you check with your vet on how prevalent distemper, parvo, and other transmittable dog diseases are in your area and get their opinion. I would guess that since you have a fully fenced back yard that it should be no problem at all. Others are absolutely right. It will be very difficult to train your puppy to go outside once you start making it okay to go inside.

Thank You Laidies. That was  what I was thinking,  now I know for sure. I knew I could count on your help.

I have vet appointment line up on March 17 so I will ask a lot of questions.

And potty training!!!! OUTSIDE it is....

Good choice. Waiting will set your puppy back. If you are concerned, have a cleaned uncontaminated spot to use exclusively. Actually, this helps with training anyways.

I would potty train outside.
