If you have an experienced breeder who has been breeding doodles for a long time, I would tell her exactly what you would like and your family circumstances and really listen to her advice. A lot of people like the Volhard testing, link below.

Our breeder had the puppies tested and picked our puppy for us - I was skeptical of the process, but Myla could not be a more perfect fit for us.
This is such an exciting time! Have fun.
I would listen to the breeder's recommendation for personalities, but I would 'listen' to the puppies also. Often one picks you. Sit down and let them come to you.
How fun. By the time it was my turn, I only had 2 to choose from. I wanted a small girl and the other one was a medium boy. Annabelle was very shy and tried to hide behind the shrubs while we were there. I thought it was kind of cute, but maybe should have been a red flag. So I guess you could say I chose Annabelle for the wrong reasons. Luckily for us it all worked out. She is anything but shy now, loves people and is perfect for us.
How exciting! I'd say follow your heart....often there is one puppy who you just seem to connect with.
How fun! Like others have said, I would go with the breeders recommendation and your heart. We didn't get to "pick" as there were only 2 females in the litter and the people in line before us chose the smaller of the two. It worked out well for us, though, as I know I would have been overwhelmed having to look for the differences in 5 pups.
Best wishes and have fun!!
Sometimes having more choices isn't a good thing! I agree with Nancy, listen to the breeder but sit down with them all and you'll find a natural connection.
I agree with getting the breeder's advice. She definitely knows these pup well, and hopefully has done a personality test on them all as well. I was not able to meet or pick a pup before deciding and my breeder listened to my needs and gave us two perfect pups that were just what we asked for. Having said that, be careful what you ask for!
It helps to know what personality puppy you want. In my younger days, I was always under the impression that I should pick the most active and alpha puppy. Actually, I preferred a more mellow and laid back dog.
Our Holly is the perfect example of the type of mellow dog that I like. She has plenty of spirit and does her share of playing but, she doesn't have an alpha bone in her body...
Which puppy did you pick? Picture please.
Can't wait to see your new puppy
He is adorable. Does he have a name yet?
