Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone,
I just had a quick question for all the Doodle owners. Tomorrow is the day we are picking up our mini golden doodle (Chloe). My fiance and I will both be working till about 5 PM and then the plan was to jump in the car and do the 2.5 hour drive to the breeders house. We estimate to be back home by 10 PM / 10:30 PM. Today the breeder offered to send her son with the puppy along with food, vet information, certification and blanket of her mom/siblings scent. We actually met the breeder and our puppy two weekends a go and thus I don't feel too nervous about this offer. The benefit of having Chloe delivered is that we should be able to get her by 7 / 8 PM giving us time to get her adjusted before bed time.

Aww so cute! I would take the offer to have son son deliver Chloe as to have more time with her at home and her to have a bit of time with you in her new home. And congrats! She is a cutie.
As long as you have already visited and seen the breeder's facilities, I agree with F that you're fine either way.
ditto
agree
I too would take them up on the offer! It allows you to spend some quality time at home tomorrow evening rather than just in the car.
Thanks everyone! We opted for the delivery and she will be arriving around 4 PM today. Today will be a long day ha-ha.
Oh, so cute!! I have delivered pups before and in every car, they had been two visit two weeks beforehand and knew the set up here--I would say that this is being done to give you an easier night and I would take her up on it!
OH! I see I am too late with my response--duh--hope you are having lots of fun with your new fur baby.
A friend and I drove to SC from Mi. in a weekend to pick up Jazzy. I did not get home and both of us to bed until 3am, Monday morning. She slept most of the way, all the rest of the night and it was a wonderful time of bonding.
What a sweetie! Look forward to updates!
Happy Sunday everyone!
So here's a mini update.
First evening..she was actually perfect…she played with us, sat on the couch with us, went potty outside a few times. We even put her in the exercise pen when we were eating dinner and she didn't whine and then we put her in the crate before bed and she cried a little and then she went to bed. I woke her up at 11:30 pm and then at 3 am to take her out to potty.
Second day…there was a TON of TLC for her and she won't leave our side now haha. Even when we have other people visit..she will play with them and let them pet her but she definitely knows who her parents are already. We put her in the exercise pen twice when we had to leave the house for a bit and she definitely cried more
Last night, she cried so much when we put her in the crate to go to bed (The crate is right near my side of the bed). After about 20 minutes the whining stopped. My intention was to take her out around 3 AM but she started crying at midnight…so my fiancé took her out and she peed and pooped and then we put her back in the crate. Amy read about being beside the crate and letting them know you are here and nothing is wrong so she did that after putting her in again and she was definitely a lot more calm. I was going to take her out at 5 AM but she was still sleeping and then I ended up taking her out at 5:30 AM.
She's currently playing with a toy beside me on the couch! So far no accidents but starting tomorrow Amy and I are working full time. One of us will be coming home at lunch to quickly take her out but there is going to be a period from like 12 till 4 when she is alone.
Some questions/concerns:
1) Breeder said she eats a cup of kibble spread out between 2 or 3 meals (we have chosen 2). She doesn't seem to eat much, she'll eat a bit and then walk away and only if I pick her up and bring her back to the food bowl will she eat some more. I even mixed a bit of water and that helped a touch.
2) When should I start attempting to train her. She knows come here already (haha) but sit seems to be a non-started. Don't want to overwhelm her. We've got her enrolled into obedience school starting September 3rd, she'll be 11 weeks at that time.
