Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I recently paid a deposit to be added to a reservation list for a puppy that has yet to be conceived--pregnancy confirmation expected in a couple of weeks. I know that mother nature plays a huge role, but am I being unrealistic in believing that I will have a puppy this Summer? Should I place more than one deposit to increase my chances of getting a large, standard chocolate, black, red or apricot male Labradoodle? Looking at all of these beautiful Doodles on this site makes me even more excited to have a Doodle to call my very own.

That makes sense. I have had several male dogs growing up, and thought that I would never want a female dog. Annie is my little shadow and she is just sweet as pie. I have a feeling you will be happy with any doodle. They are all so great! FINGERS CROSSED that you will get a call soon with confirmation!
I can feel your excitement through this post! What an exciting time this is! IF the dog gets pregnant successfully and you are higher up on the waiting list, and it is perfectly reasonable that you could have your puppy this summer. Assuming she gets pregnant in April, she'd be due in June, and you'd have your puppy by August. Please keep us posted!
Will do. Thanks for commenting, it means a lot. The breeder said that I am "firmly positioned" on the list. I take this to mean that as long as there is a litter of more than a "few" pups, and my preferences are met, I will get a puppy. I am waiting to hear from her to confirm that the breeding was successful--will know by the end of the month/early April.
Good luck to you! Hope you hear good news soon!
That's the hard part - the waiting. I hope it's a big litter and lots of males to choose from.
Update: Pregnancy is now confirmed and puppies are due on or around 4/22/2013!!!
YAY! That's less than a month until your doodle is born! :) Do you know what spot your are on the list for males?
I think that all of the well wishes helped :). I do not know where I am on the list but I plan to send an email to find out. My preference is for a male but I would most definitely take a female if no males were available. The excitement continues...
I know that you are about to bring your precious Sophie home. Please do not forget to post photos. I am so happy for you.
Congratulations.
Are u sure u want to wait? There r plenty available!
Now, you tell me, LOL.
I feel pretty good about the breeder. I have been tempted by available puppies on some sites but I always wonder if something is wrong with the puppy or if the breeder is running a puppy mill. I did a lot of research before picking my breeder and I received great feedback from other breeders and satisfied customers. So, I guess that my answer is Yes, I will wait this one out :).
Picking a responsible breeder is so important and it will be worth the wait. Good luck!
