Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Those of use brave enough to take a rescue animal know that there are always lots of unknowns. No medical history, no sibling information, nothing about those first months or years of life. It was sheer luck that I was put in touch with Stuart's brother's adoptive mom - all through DK! So Stuart turns 1 on or around (with a rescue who knows) April 5. On Stuart's b-day we are driving from Ft. Myers, FL to Marietta, GA (where we adopted Stuart) to spend Easter weekend with DD and her boyfriend with their dog, a yellow lab - Cal. On Good Friday we are for the 1st time meeting Stuart's full brother - Beamer and his mom Jo. Jo and I have been in touch over the past 10 months comparing photos and info - now the boys will get to see each other again. They look like twins really. So will they remember each other - I just can't wait to see them together!!! I know that this isn't that big of a deal . . . but if you have a rescue - you know what we feel! Stay tuned for more photos!!!

I was the same way when Bailey met Freedom, her sister. I just got eye rolls from the fam!! That's why I love DK....Everyone understands the craziness of owning a doodle hehe
The get-together is going to be so fun!! I can't wait to see pics so I hope you get them posted just as soon as you get back! Just wondering, has either Stuart or Beamer been groomed yet?? It's really amazing how similar they are!
Stuart has been groomed but his fur has never been clipped. We keep his face in a puppy cut as I don't want long facial hair dripping water throught the house. Nails, sanitary area - just the usual. Jo - Beamer ever been groomed?
I have not had Beamer groomed. Might make our first venture soon. So far I have done his nails, face etc...
These two are completely adorable. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful get together!
We have had Clancy for two years now and he just turned four. YESTERDAY, I found out that he loves water! We went to a dog beach and Clancy frolicked in the water and even swam out pretty far to retrieve a ball! My prediction was that he would NOT like the water at all - who knew?!! There is definitely an up side to having a rescue - new things to discover about each other forever....
I am so glad that you are in contact with Stuart's brother and will get them together soon. I really wish I could meet Clancy's brother or that I knew what he looked like as a puppy.
Clancy is so adorable!!!! So funny that you now have a swimmer!!!!
Amazing, isn't it?
This is so wonderful, when I scrolled down I thought Beamer was Stuart! I don't have any connections with Riley's brothers and sister though I do know that one went to Sweden but the rest would be in the UK so none that we could visit. You are lucky to have this connection and it will be wonderful to see the brothers together. We are coming towards Riley's first birthday too and are just thinking how to mark the occasion.
Thats great! I love comparing notes with Coopers siblings. We have met 3 of them (all girls). One is smaller, and white (looks just like Mom) and the other 2 are bigger, and mostly silver. Cooper stayed chocolate. They didnt seem to recognize each other, but there was a group of about 20 doodles...
Unfortunately we moved away so dont get to see them any more, but I have the email addresses of 2 of them, so we do update each other occasionally. They are almost 3 so I will have to put together some photos and send a message
One day I would love to go to our breeder and take Cooper (though shes here on DK so can see photos). Coopers parents are now retired so we perhaps wouldnt get to meet them... and Id probably come home with a new puppy lol even though i want to be a 1 dog household
That's great you get to see Beamer again - you are lucky! I know we take for granted knowing exactly where our puppies came from. Just this morning, Peri had a look on her face that reminded me so much of her mama Delta. We were fortunate to be able to meet her and see Peri as a young puppy.
