Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We got home Wednesday afternoon from our trip without Meg. The young man we hired to stay with her was a jewel, I received a couple of texts every day to let me know how she/they were doing. He had one issue with her chewing and called to find out if he was doing something wrong. He ran her through her tricks every day and made her follow proper manners for getting her food and going for walks. He even showed her off to his friends and suggested if she came up missing he may have kidnapped her because he was enjoying her so much. When we got home she was obviously happy to see us but showed no anxiety about having been left. I am so grateful we found Paul and didn't have to leave her at a kennel.

Boy don't I wish we could clone Paul ... we would all love to have such an arrangement when/if we have to leave them!
That is great ! You didn't say how old this young man was, but I hope he is around a long time for you. My son used to take care of his friends mini poodle, all through high school. The dog loved him, and he would stay at their house with her. They paid him very well for his time, and total attentions to "Boo". They were very crushed when he went off to college, because now they had to find someone new. So I wish you many happy years with your new Doodle sitter !
I have had young people that have done this for me over the years and it is great--I even had a pair of identical twins that could share the job! But they do grow up and move on, so it is good to have someone else "in the wings". My latest house sitter is in my neighborhood and just turned 17--she has known my dogs for many years and they love her--but I have NO ONE lined up after her so I better get on that right away!
I wish I had a Paul here. You are very lucky and I hope he can help you out for a long, long time!!
Unfortunately for me, not him, he is a college student and next year goes farther away to college. It was so handy I would move him into my house if I could.
I'm so glad everything worked out so nicely for you!
I'm glad things went so well and Paul was so conscientious about caring for Meg. I hope you enjoyed your trip!
This is wonderful news, Judy.
Glad you are home and safe and I hope the trip with your family was consoling with all that you are going through.
wow this is such a relief to hear this! i am going away in a week for 7 days..the longest i have left midas is 3 days...he will be staying home with my sister in law...he will be crated a lot..but my sister will come visit with her dogs for playdates.. im glad to hear meg was fine! how long were u gone?
4.5 days. Meg was crated more than normal but got lots of exercise and love, also Paul spent the night so she was out last thing before bed and first thing in the morning
I was thinking 'Flat Paul' (instead of Flat Stanley!) and then send him here too LOL
It is such a relief to know your fur baby is in good hands and you can enjoy your time away.
