At what point in his life might I expect Toby to settle down for 5 minutes in the evening so that I can relax? It's not like he sleeps all day or anything, but seriously, he is a raging lunatic from about 7:30 till 11:00. He gets walked twice a day, and has a fence yard to goof around in, but still, oh man. He's 4 1/2 months old. Tonight he's had the major zoomies. Oh my goodness. My carpet is going to have a zoomie path burned into it.

That's the thing - Toby isn't really bad in the evenings. He just wants to interactively play. It will be nice when he can amuse himself a bit more. But just like with the nipping - if I put in the time now, it will pay off later.
We found that Dexter got a lot better after a year. Then even better after 2 yrs. This is regarding calming down in the evening. He's still a little devil and does things he shouldn't do :) But we are at work all day and still by 8-9 pm both dogs are asleep.
It just must be in their blood. Brooks is a wild man at night too..he honestly runs laps around our house, its hilarious, but I usually try and redirect the behavior. Sometimes nothing will work except letting him run..its amazing how these dogs have a LOT of the same behaviors. It makes me feel better..I thought Brooks was crazy at first..til I found this website!!!! :)
