I have never bought a dog so I am doing a lot of research to find the BEST breeder.  One of the sites I found on line, I was looking at the upcoming puppies and the two parents are actually brother/sister.  Is this not a big NO/NO??? Or is this common?  They both are super cute and have gorgeous colouring/coats but wont the puppies have a lot of health issues???

Thanks in advance!

This sounds very suspicious. Good breeders use a coefficient of breeding number to avoid inbreeding their lines. Here are the DK guidelines. Cute is great but there are many more important factors.

I agree. The puppies may or may not have health problems, since inbreeding increases the chances of anything being passed on, good qualities as well as bad. But breeding siblings is just a bad breeding practice, period, and not done or condoned by anyone who knows anything about breeding dogs. I don't know of any breeder who would do this. Stay far, far away.

I agree with F and Karen.  When those recessive genes line up who knows what diseases can pop up.

Ditto to all above options. I have not heard of an ethical breeder doing this! Go back to the drawing board!

Doggie incest? yikes.

RUN as fast as you can!  This isn't even line breeding!

Exactly, Ro.

This is BYB breeding, otherwise known as "take any two dogs you can get your hands on and breed them together to make some money."

Yup!
This just sounds wrong on so many levels.

It absolutely is wrong - arghhhh

HUGE NO NO> Run away very fast!
