Smooth or Curly, What should I chose?

About 8 months ago I asked myself this very question, and I know there are newbies out there trying to decided the very same thing so this is my advice to you. 

I chose my beloved Beans about 8months ago, after switching from the smoothest in the litter (of the males) to the curliest. See my page for baby pics. I scanned the forums and posts of this wonderful site and like many became aware that the first impression isn't always what you end up with. The package often has layers. 

For us the biggest Uh huh moment came with his first haircut! He went from being totally shaggy to tight, tight curl. I do not believe that it will grow out again. I began this journey wanting to pick the smoothest coated puppy, in hopes that he would be shaggy...(in the end, Beans was the curliest-puppy with eyes open) but just as I read, you never know. I also agree that once they have stolen your heart it won't matter. So pick the one that steals your heart, the one you know HAS to be yours, and in the end LOVE will abide!

I believe the right dog finds you. Beans is perfect, no matter the coat, and I LOVE the name. Vern was almost Vanilla Bean or Vanilla Beans :)

I ended up with one of each! Cody is curly. In fact, he could easily be mistaken for a poodle. Long curly tail and all. Casey was described as "slightly wavy." He is a big shaggy teddy bear. I love each of their coats. Now that they were just groomed for the first time, they look much more alike. I'm sure that as they begin to grow out again, the curl and fluffy will reappear!

Oh Beans you are just so darn cute :)  My Sasha was a fluffy kind of straight hair and now she is VERY poodley and I could care less what her hair is - she is my girl and it was love at first sight and I would love her just the same even if she had no hair !!!  love concurs all <3

Your Beans is absolutely adorable.  I am totally biased to the curly, for whatever reason.....  I am just attracted to them, both of mine are and I didn't even choose them, just meant to be for sure :)  And a big plus, no shedding.

Quincy went from wavy to more curly, but the longer it gets the more wavy.  As you said-no matter.  He has our hearts !

Beans is adorable!

We chose Luna almost entirely based on personality.  She "chose" my husband and wouldn't leave him alone during our puppy-picking visit.  We originally wanted one of the lighter coloured puppies but totally fell in love with Luna's personality - we really didn't care what she was going to look like.

He is adorable...curly or straight...all doodles are gorgeous...it's there beautiful big eyes!

What a cutie!!!! I think more doodles get curlier than get straighter as they get their adult coat.
