So winter is here and so is the snow and the matts. Sonny LOVES the snow. Playing, rolling in it, jumping, etc... The problem is he instantly matts. No matter how much I comb him, which is a fight in its self, Sonny matts. I knew he was pretty badly matted so I took him to the groomer today. She had to cut him very short to get out all the matts that were everywhere on him from this snowstorm. My question is what do you think about investing in a snowsuit for him to prevent him from having to be cut short every winter?

I found this snow suit online and was wondering if anyone has it or what you think. I did buy Muttluks for him, which helped his feet but I need some help with the rest of his body. He just has the type of fur/hair that snow sticks to and he becomes one giant snowball. I will attach that picture later on.

Sorry the pic is so big but this is what I was thinking of ordering.

Yes this is the snowsuit i have. But as you can see it doesn't go the enitre length of the legs. I didn't get the booties.

It definitely helps a lot though. no more snowballs under the armpits and on belly. But the snowsuit that a couple of doodles sport (daisy and quincy) from neopaws looks much better.

I just wents on the neopwas website. I saw rain suits but not snow suits.
They are advertised as rainsuits but look like they work well as snowsuits. There are pictures and videos of Quincy and Daisy wearing them in the snow. I am going to order Stella one but she is only 5 1/2 months old so I'll wait 'till she grows a little more.
The rainsuit is what we have as we only need it to keep the snow off and not for warmth. We just got a new pair of muttluks as well so betwwen the suit and the boots we have him pretty well covered, now all we need is some snow. There is a video of Daisy sporting her suit go under videos at the top of the page and you can find it there. (Daisy and Mommy-Lisa) I'll attach the pic of Quincy to save you the trouble of looking for it.
OMG I love it! How does his hair stay so long? Sonny would be a matted mess!

I am very happy with the suit from Hurtta. For the feet I use the paw plunger when we come back inside. The suit has a fleece liner which you can take out, so you can use the suit as well for muddy/rainy weather during the rest of the year. Here is Tyler wearing the suit.

I know Muttlucks make a snow suit, and im pretty sure it goes down to the feet (but doesnt cover the feet) though I guess it depends on how long your doods legs are

Thankfully we dont much snow here so Cooper doesnt get to snow-ball-ey

Don't need a snowsuit here...but I LOVE that chocolate lab!
This whole snowsuit discussion is cracking me up!!!  I guess being a California girl has made Sedona a bit of a wuss (or should I say "delicate flower"?).  Not only has she never romped in snow, and therefore has no need for a snowsuit, she's apparently a bit of a cold-phobe!  This morning - at 32 degrees (which is abnormally chilly for us) - Sedona went out to pee, but quickly came inside to use her "inside grass" (a Potty Patch we have for weather emergencies) for the rest of her morning business.  She'd never make it where some of you all live!!!!
I attached the pics of Sonny's face. This wasn't even the worst of it. Basically this is what happens to his whole body and his hair just get all wrapped in it.

love the face snowball pics :-)  i took a pic of Porter's pair of snowball balls but they aren't PG.  lol

I've been waffling on the snowsuit for days b/c i know my hot dog loves the cold snow + I am lazy about outfitting for spontaneous 15x a day play.  Ack I can't decide!  If he were an xxl, I'd have gotten him the neopaws last-year sale rainsuit, but they are outta stock in the old xl, and the $34 new version is a lot for something I may barely use.

plus I need to buy him a new car, ya know.  (My van is in the shop, and we've been cramming kids and Porter into a mini cooper.)

I just can't imagine dressing two dogs multiple times a day. This snow hasn't been bad yet in terms of snow balls in the coats but I just let them melt off for the most part.
