Baloo (my 3 year old goldendoodle) has the stinkiest feet! I don't want to over-bathe him. The only part that is smelly is his feet. I know dogs sweat through their feet (and he has some big feet), but it is kind of gross. I have tried baby wipes - useless and bathing just his feet is quite messy/wet for a daily task. Any suggestions....
We had a discussion awhile back in which many of us determined that our doodles' feet smell like Fritos. http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/webbed-feetpaws
Maybe if you check again, you'll find the aroma more appetizing!
Seriously, if the odor is really offensive and you're keeping his feet clean, I agree that he might have an infection; does he lick his paws a lot?
definitely not fritos! more of a body odor. like if i did not bath him for months! i would not say that he bites his feet any more than any other dog for grooming. i will be at the vet again in a couple of weeks, I will ask her to check out his feet. Thanks.
WELL, this has been discussed before. Some think doodles feet smell like Doritos (Fritos) !!! LOL LOL LOL Lucy's feet has a smell too, not a bad smell, I don't mind it. If Baloo's feet are that bad than maybe there is something brewing there and should have them looked at.
Dogs can have yeast infections in between their pads. I would bet that is what it is. Until you get your doodle to the vet try wiping the pads etc. out with a solution of 50% vinegar, 50% water. This can also be used to clean the ears and keep the yeast bacteria down.
My dogs usually get their feet wet at the beach and I want to wash their feet, but not a total bath. I have a car wash bucket out in the laundry room and I fill it with water and shampoo. My dogs are accustomed to getting their feet washed and put one foot at a time into the bucket. Then I wipe the foot with a shamwow which dries them off pretty well. It just takes a few minutes for each dog. Don't give him a total bath just to wash the feet. Good luck.
Just smelled Luca's feet. They had a kind of grassy odor, not at all unpleasant, but the he was just outside. I've never noticed a bad odor on either dog's feet.
You probably want to ask your vet about this. Every dog I've ever had have had feet that smell like popcorn! I see some folks say the smell is like Fritos, LOL! I love to smell my dogs' feet, crazy as that sounds!
